I know not if this is the right place for this but no doubt someone will tell me if otherwise, so here goes. Talking to my little brother this morn, he ask me if I knew what happened to a 60' Springer by the name of Palindrome. Built, I think, in the mid '70's ( '75/'76?) and painted at that time in GWR colours - Lister 3 cylinder air cooled engine- can't remember what type. Does anyone know of its fate?

There's no boat of that name showing on the boat register so it has presumably been scrapped.

This is as I thought. Pity as had some very fine times on her. I remember trying to do various loops on the BCN way back when navigation of some was a real challenge.

There's no boat of that name showing on the boat register so it has presumably been scrapped. It is quite likely that you're right in what you say, and that this old Springer has been scrapped.
But.....if the boat has left BW-CaRT waters some (or maybe many) years ago, and because of that doesn't need their licence anymore, you wouldn't find it on the boat register either.
Peter.

Or if the name of the boat has been changed, it might not show up.

Good point Peter ........ It always surprises me when I visit some of the yards and moorings around the Thames estuary and the Essex coast, you find narrowboats in various stages of renovation/abandonment tucked away in corners. You look at some of them and wonder how the heck they got there with only salty water around the yard. I did notice a Springer in not that bad a nick ashore by the River Roach

I remember a springer which was 70ft and had been lengthened. It was around in the early 00s down around Uxbridge. It was called "all boys"
Bit unusual to see a 70 footer but I think there are several.

She was based in Hertford by the ice-cream depot - I'll see if I can find her BW no.

No luck with number - I had a look at some old photos and there is no sign of a BW number the side of the boat just says Palindrome and Hertford.

Buggering about on Google 'cause you never know, I found this palindrome:
A man. A plan. A canal. Panama.
Completely irrelevant but it's got canal in it.

How about... "T. Eliot, top bard, notes putrid tang emanating, is sad; I'd assign it a name: gnat dirt upset on drab pot toilet".
