Be careful over there Chagall. There are a lot of French people! Yes, that could be a problem!... and as I dont speak French then I imagine I will be shunned until I at least attempt to learn the language. I got quite excited by the idea of narrowboats in Gibraltar, my family has moved to Spain and my hazy grasp (none) of the geography suggests it woud easier to visit from there. I must admit narrowboats in Gibralta raised my eyebrows too.

To be honest I am thinking of changing boats as well, I expressed an interest in a 35 x 12 steel cruiser last year and today the owner called me and asked if I was still interested. I had looked her today as I cruised past and Jayne and I were talking about her so it does seem to be that my life might be changing soon. She is capable of going to sea so who knows what the future holds? not Johnathon Cainer as he passed away yesterday.

Very nice luxury Dutch-style cruiser was for sale near Solihull. Had a nice washbasin. Bargain at 127,000 doughnuts.
Has anyone sent EEL a PM to tell her about this site?

My story:
I've always loved water. I remember the excitement when I was a kid of my first glimpse of the sea when we went on holiday. In my teens I got into fishing in a big way. I specialised to a large extent but always loved the go to the nearest canal to me, the Macclesfield at Poynton.
I rarely visited the canal for a decade or two as my life changed. Marriage, divorce and a job in financial management. At 45 I was quite well off but also quite miserable so decided to make changes in my life. I quit the job, rented the house and took a one way flight to Delhi armed only with a backpack and a bit of money.
7 years later I'd travelled widely and trained to teach English as a foreign language. Whilst I enjoyed teaching 3 years was enough. Back home, nowhere to live, what to do? I dreaded taking another job in finance, the thought made me feel sick. So, I sold my house, bought 3 cheaper ones to rent and decided to buy a boat to live on. I bought the first one I saw, as I tend to. The boat was a good (lucky) buy. 3 years on, retired with a simple lifestyle, the though of living on a housing estate and/ or rush hours to and from work fills me with more dread.
