Fairly obviously British Waterways is (or rather was) the nearest comparable organisation. ...Snip... Thanks Allan. I was more looking for a current organisation that I could compare CRT with, especially with regard to 'modern day' Governance. I fear you will be disappointed. Governance mainly relates to CaRT being a charity and ignores the commercial side plus a Legal/Regularity side.

You've got me thinking now. All I can come is the historic england now the English heritage trust. They are a trust. A charity. I'm pretty sure they have comercial enterprises and the enforce the law regarding historical buildings. The regulate and govern the rules too like a grade listed property etc.
That's all I've got I think CaRT are pretty much one of a kind
