creating a constant level of fear and worry amongst some people about being killed in a terror attack. Yet... some people were killed. It's becoming something of a routine. Indeed, but what is the actual risk of being killed in a terrorist attack? Google it. You have more chance of being killed driving your bus. That is the point I was making.

I feel safer here than in east London, thank you. That is exactly my point. Some people do not feel safe in certain areas despite the fact they would have much more chance being killed driving to London (or indeed Paris) than being killed by a terrorist when they got there. Terrorism works by creating a continual climate of fear, and parts of the press are complicit in helping create it.

The US Government also likes to keep people 'on their toes' by issuing 'Red Warnings', 'Yellow Warnings', 'Orange Warnings'. Have all the headless chickens running scared. Relieve them of their taxes first, though!

Probably fewer than those who have had heart attacks from bingeing at McDonalds and smoking and stuffing themselves with salted crisps and popcorn. Obviously, fewer than those who have died in vehicle collisions. My point is that there shouldn't be any violent deaths caused in the name of a religion or cult.
You often have jabs at me for what you conceive as my views (and you may be right, but never having ever sat down side by side and had a chat, who can say?), so I would, politely, ask, what is your vision for Britain/Europe?
I'm roughly of the opinion that 'refugees' should be grateful to be taken in to a host country. If they end up staying and becoming 'legal citizens' with the right to vote, I see nothing wrong with them changing the system gradually to suit themselves, in the same way that all the original inhabitants have. I do not expect 'incomers' to adopt the clothing and customs of their host country, but I do expect them to behave decently - as I expect of anyone else.
I'm open to persuasion, but I'm 56 years old and have seen a lot of stuff, and base my opinions on having my own theories confirmed. I'm still flexible and willing to listen, but I'm also old enough to know I can be wasting my time, such as when Religious Nutters knock on the door and ask "Have I found Jesus" - then it's better to tell 'em to piss off and get back to my book on The Leeds & Liverpool Canal.
(edited as I'm not sure is it binging or bingeing)

You are right in what you say....but the press crank up any event to maximum threat level to sell their papers...the more 'hysteria' the more profit. There is an element of truth in this definitely. The press in this country have a lot to answer for including the stirring up of hatred towards immigrants through to creating a constant level of fear and worry amongst some people about being killed in a terror attack. Opposing immigration and hating immigrants are mutually exclusive ideologies.

Opposing immigration and hating immigrants are mutually exclusive ideologies. In an ideal world that would be true for everybody. However some people seem to think there is an inextricable connection and appear unable to separate the concepts.

They love it (they're young) and they realise the chance of being involved in anything terror related is about the same as being hit by a falling piano from a block of flats.

That's it in a nut shell isn't it. Sadly some people do terrible things for a variety of reasons. Most people just get on with life. Rog

These incidents do highlight the ease with which automatic weapons can flow between countries in the EU.
What a shame he was released early from his 20yr prison sentence for a previous attack on Police. Seems the frogs penal system is just a lax as ours.

Which is exactly why, when you are walking past blocks of flats, you should be keeping your eyes open for falling pianos, remote possibility as it is.
