I was interested in trying Keelblack as our boat is in dry dock at the end of July, but Ken, who owns and runs the dry dock near Stretham uses intertuff, which is what the boat's been done with before. His price (Β£650) is to dry dock the boat, pressure wash all the old blacking off and apply 2 good coats of intertuff. He's always done a thorough, neat job so we've decided not to rock the boat so to speak. Will be interested to hear how people get on with the Keelblack though, as it does sound like a very good product.

I used it last year very impressed with it doesnt seem to wash off at the waterline at al! Next year when its out again I will report on it, however mine is zingered underneath so its just a cosmetic coating for me. John however will be doing his at the same time, and his bottom is rough! It was 2 packed when new but sometimes its not as good as they make out, and even though it was shotblasted it still fell off and went very rusty!!!

Well, boat went in to the dock this morning, a quick look around and it has done well, especially the bottom, not a few rusty spots. Waterline not to bad either. I'll take pics tomorrow, before, during and after. I've yet to see how the rotating blaster works in the drill, it's supposed to leave a sandblasted finish. www.rotatingblaster.co.uk/on-line-shop/4552032712

All good then Jim fingers crossed for an easy job, remember to leave enough time before putting it back in as its damp and will take 48 hours to dry properly

How did you find the keelblack? I found it the easiest stuff in the world to apply short haired cheap brush washed out every few minutes. The Barge looks lovely real curves mmmmmmm

Keelblack themselves recommended open foam rollers , they are yellow. Barge was owned by the woman in the picture. She's transported it from London, she's a livaboard, didn't ask how often she shuffledπ. Taking it west, the only way she can from there .
