I think it's completely wrong that someone is not allowed to voice his/her opinion openly without being labelled. Nobody has to hate gays, but neither should they be restrained from stating they don't agree with it. If somebody wants to be gay, get on with it, and stop imposing pressure on those that are not. Such drama and pc is bollocks.

Such drama and pc is bollocks. Someone is allowed to voice his/her opinion openly without being labelled. Well that said, with the sort of thing Tim Farron has been saying he will be labelled as a "Christian" but he probably doesn't mind that. He didn't say he didn't agree with it (gays) but had a quandary when asked whether homosexuality was a sin or not. Not that I regard "sin" as having any real meaning. But the point is that someone who is the leader of a political party (and an allegedly liberal one at that!) should not be struggling to avoid insulting gays by labelling them all "sinners". Yes he is entitled to his own opinions, sad though they are, but he is unsuitable to lead a mainstream party if he has those views. And as I said, he's clearly a nutter if his life is dominated by a fantasy. And as a high profile person, he risks adversely influencing the easily influenced (religious fanatics). It is pretty ironic that the religion that beseeches you to love thy neighbour, turn the other cheek etc, are the most vociferous ones to attack anyone a bit different. They are barking mad! And ultra-hypocritical. (All the requirements for a politician I suppose!) its easy for you to say "stop imposing pressure on those (not gay), when you haven't been a member of a persecuted and reviled minority. Nobody is saying that everyone must become gay, just that people should be allowed to get on with their lives without being insulted by people who have never met them, just because of their general choice of life/bed partner. I suspect that if Tim Farron struggled with whether those who hid under the duvet when a boat came past lest it was someone who knew them, were sinners or not, you might take a different view!

One as bad as the other with your reply below?
"And as I said, he's clearly a nutter if his life is dominated by a fantasy".
I'm all for you getting on with your life. My point is, I just don't wish to be a part of it.
"when you haven't been a member of a persecuted and reviled minority". I'm a ccer, which has seen me as a persecuted member of a minority 😂. (Funny how persecution is ok for some topics, but not others). 😉

Autocorrect error for prosecuted I suspect - for being a naughty overstaying CMer no doubt. I'm sure CMing is proscribed in the bible too, making you a sinner. If only I could remember the chapter and verse. but being slightly serious, despite your persecution complex I doubt you would for example have been thrown out of a B&B, or refused service in a cake shop, disallowed marriage etc, for being a CCer?

I've been turned down in the past at b&b's, ( age related ). I have also been refused a room at a gay hotel in brighton because I was heterosexual. I hold no grudge, and did not feel persecuted for being refused the b&b. Folk are entitled to their views, and more importantly their feelings. I would not be so rude as to force my religion, sexual behaviour on anyone, and as for the b&b issue where the owners were claiming to be religious, I was quite disgusted with the two gay guys making an issue of it. Simply because they demanded respect, but were not prepared to show any. If you demand respect, you have to be prepared to show it. As for the marriage thing, I have to be honest, and say I find the hypocrisy of wanting to be married, yet hating religion, ridiculous in the extreme.

Anyway its about time we divorced the C of E from government so in time ones religion/sect became less and less important and the acts and omisions are what counted. Didn't Henry V111 have some thoughts about divorcing church from government?..if so the idea is centuries old..bout time we got it sorted then...

No, you were probably refused the room in Brighton because you were too ugly to be amongst the beautiful people. Anyway, the two gay guys wanted treatment equal to that given to anyone not gay. Doesn't seem too much to expect? They were quite happy for the B&B owners to be religious nutters - just not when they used their religion as an excuse for hate and discrimination. As to marriage, what on earth has that got to do with religion? Marriage is an institution of the state with concomitant tax, next of kin, inheritance etc issues. As well as being a good excuse for a party!
