I've done a couple of tiling jobs on my boats. Well three actually. Quite extensive tiling. I really can't be arsed with all the bullshit so I just put a bit of tile adhesive on back of tile with a fork spread it about and whack it onto the bulkhead. MDF or ply it always seems to work. They do little plastic crosses but they seem pointless.
The "recommended" techniques seem to be too much aggregation. I've never had a tile fall. Famous last words!

I have done a couple of areas of just plain tiling before but this is the splash back round the Galley, it is not particularly high (about 1 and a 1/2 tiles by about 40 but there are a row of double sockets and fused spurs ......So far there has been a total of 41 cut tiles, some simple, some not so bloody simple .... and I haven't finished it yet .............. and the mess

I had a go at tiling splashbacks behind 2 sinks....straightish bits of wall or as straight as Horror House got ... didnβt get on with those plastic spacers and although I thought it passed Pattyβs seal of approval daughterhad few words about the bathroom where Iβd finished with sorta overhangs cos couldnβt cut the tiles. Donβt think itβs something that Iβll need to do again.... unless son has plans for tiling in his van conversion then I guess I could always share my knowledge π§

Well, tiling finished last night ......sort of satisfied though a couple of the awkward shapes cracked during final positioning but they are going to have to do (in the narrow strip between sockets .... maybe 3/4" wide) Just a bit too fragile for a ham fisted amateur. Grouting today and hopefully then I can start the clean up .... which I reckon will take nearly as long as the bloody job !!!

Grouting finished by lunch time ..... took my pasty and a pint of Doom Bar and sat in my deckchair on the foc'sle. What a glorious day, sunbathing in teeshirt in February Can't do a great deal more until the grout hardens and as I haven't had a chance to enjoy the sun the last few days I'm going to make the most of this afternoon.

A great fella down at the boat club approached me some tine ago asking if I could make some frames to take a car sear, he and his lady friend are advancing in years - they are still boating but find their current saloon chairs difficult to get in and out of, he wanted to try a pair of car seats to see if they were easier to get on with. Last weekend I had a fag packet drawing to end all fag packet drawings thrust in my hand. He had acquired a pair of leather seats out of a Korean 4X4 of some description - I switched off a little at that point tbh. So it was off to work to dream up something to fit the bill. I didn't take many pictures, this is the bear bones of the job, a jig was knocked up, some 25mm box cut and tacked together in the jig then trimmed to length, 2 pairs required. They were then clamped together in pairs, spot drilled thorough at 6.5mm, then opened out to 16mm on one side (handed) to take the seat catch bars. 16mm black bar drilled and tapped M6 each end then skimmed to a slightly more round and accurate dimension. 8 off spacers turned and drilled and tapped to act as stops to prevent the seat sliding about. Bolt it all together, two coats of CombiColour and they will be presented to their rightful owner on Sunday (along with a 4mm and 3mm Allen Key - just like you'd get at IKEA πππ¨π¨) The above makes it sound like it took 5 minutes, it didn't, and I can't be tempted to go into production with them π¨π¨π¨π¨π¨π naughtyfox it's jobs like this that the pain of being screwed for having a day off with a sick child have to be balanced against.

A technical genius who looks after their kids. Whatβs there not to like? PS . I get bored with looking after people sometimes, then take it out on CEOβs who cause their problems.

In Finland you get paid if you have to stay at home to look after a sick child. Your normal day's salary, for 3 days in a row. I forget the time period required between the next set of those 3-in-a-row days. Either husband or wife can stay at home.
I haven't a clue how transgender-fluid-fluff-muffins work this out. I mean, three or four or five may be married to each other at the same time. Who knows what they get up to?

Another well thought out and good looking job from the expert hands of youngman gazza.
Your boatclub-member will be over the moon with this result (I definitely would be).
Peter.
