The front bulkhead and doors on my boat is beginning to de laminate. I built it out of found oak tabletops, but they weren't built with waterproof glue. They did look very nice. Last summer I put a coat of paint on after regluing and filling bits, but still not right. I've now ordered 2mm Ali plate to cover the lot, fixing with hybrid sealant/glue and stainless screws. That should sort the job permanently. Gazzas multi tool, oscillating saw, got one of aldis finest a while back, noisy but brilliant for certain jobs. Lidl opened a new store in Littleborough, they had an offer on an 18v drill/saw/sander/oscillating saw for £30 so got it for the boat, along with 2 higher capacity batteries.

as promised pictures of the work on Shapfell the offending Stuart Turner 1/2" raw water inlet SAM_2411 by mudlarker2, on Flickr and here you can see the miniscule hole for the water to get through when turned fully "on" SAM_2412 by mudlarker2, on Flickr The replacement 3/4" inlet and valve SAM_2401 by mudlarker2, on Flickr showing the filter on top SAM_2402 by mudlarker2, on Flickr the now easy access to the exhaust (ha ha) but it's a million percent better than it was. I am not totally happy with the neatness of the plumbing and the wiring but without actually renewing and re-routing that is the best I can get and atleast the jubilee clips are the right way up so you can get a spanner on them !!! SAM_2404 by mudlarker2, on Flickr the offending mounting that causes all the noise and vibration .... it's been cut away from the mounting .... but not from the bloomin engine !!! SAM_2405 by mudlarker2, on Flickr The engine in it's little cubby hole under the kitchen sink SAM_2406 by mudlarker2, on Flickr and with the door shut SAM_2408 by mudlarker2, on Flickr SAM_2407 by mudlarker2, on Flickr and the gearbox end SAM_2409 by mudlarker2, on Flickr and with the cover back SAM_2410 by mudlarker2, on Flickr

I’ve been on weeding duty - bloody bindweed is trying to get established again 🤬 I’ve got to get some bark and gravel to top up around the garden and I’m about all done for the year - bar for regularly chasing the mower about - a low maintenance garden is essential for a boater 🤣😜

Apparently 'ere' next doors tells me they need cutting 4 times a year...Ive done them once....if I leave another 3 weeks I might get away with 3 times. After demands of Horror House its a doddle but I just cannot be bothered...think I worked so hard up that place that now I just don't want the garden...maybe next year I'll feel more like faffing about.

Went on a job this afternoon on a local boat... ‘Immersion heater not working switch getting hot’ . Upon questioning I was told it’s never worked properly even tho the owner fitted it with all new parts himself some 12 months ago Just Thought I’d post it here to get @gazza ‘s opinion of the quality workmanship you see in some self fit out boats. Is it about time that morons should be banned from owning and using tools?🙄

Just goes to show "A little learning is a dangerous thing"
Australia has it right with no DIY electrical allowed.

Lord Fotheringham changed his electric light and killed himself, it served him right For it is the duty of the gentleman to provide employment for the artisan
(as an aside the part "P" for domestic electric work is a f******g P*** take, If you don't have that specific qualification you can't be part "P" however highly qualified. As an example a friend of mine has the following letters after his name FIEE MBIP C.Eng .... in other words has high enough qualifications to be on the board that sets the regulations for electrical installations ...... but is not considered capable of doing his own electrical wiring without going and paying for the exam ..... stupid)
