Its because the seller has enabled private bidding which is a click able option. I knew that. What I was getting at is that even if you don't click private bidding the other bidders are not actually identifiable. There was a time on eBay when your full username would be displayed to everyone else looking st the bidder list. This is no longer the case as it is "encoded" using **** .
I don't quite understand why looking at a list of encoded user names would be of any use to anyone.
?
Or is it simply the fact that the seller has selected this option that is suspicious.

I don't see the suspicion, although I would at least have had a little look at a boat before I was bidding to buy. I think this why a lot of the cheaper boats on ebay get "sold" then the buyer turns up and goes no way am I paying that for that. The boat ends up on ebay again.

If in this case he or she was bidding on a Narrowboat they would have bid on other things too and it would show up in there history, but if it shows 100% bidding with just one seller chances are its the seller bidding from another account, as soon as I see this I don't bid on the item as its too big a chance to take when the price is rising by the hundreds..

I didn't realise you could click and see bidding history. I understand your point now. I thought the names were randomly generated with random feedback numbers. Will have a look at that on something I recently bid on.

Maybe there have been people accessing the boat uninvited to have a nose round.

Fingers crossed he's not taking the piss, along with them being crossed it's not a teabag! I've had a look round the usual suspects websites round this way, bugger all available ATM - you often don't pay the premium of being on the canal and get a run through fenland to get it where you want. Will keep my eyes peeled though 🚢🍻👍🔨😎

Also he didnt message me back so might give this one a miss and it's not the actions of a seller some of the things he is doing...

Not had any messages back from the seller so think I will give this one a miss as there is too much going on hear that I don't like the look of. I have since learned today that the boat is now at hopwood, from a friend who passes the hopwood pub and spotted the boat. Kings Norton by the canal can be a bit rough but why move the boat now. Anyway thatnks to you all for your help with this one and I am sure I will be posting more in the future

I expect a psychologist could easily explain why - perhaps some deep routed respect for property still remains in their addled brains. I'm helping someone move a scruffy boat at the moment, 2nd time we left it overnight some twat(s) put 2 windows in, turned the interior upside down and nicked £10 worth of tat.

I know of two boats for sale locally that haven't been advertised yet, one that needs work, that you'd get for just over 10,000, I reckon and a newer one that is ready to move on you'd get for about 21000. I have no connection. To either of the vendors other than I've met them on the cut. If you'd like me to get phone numbers let me know? Ps when they do get advertised, they will both be asking for a lot more.
