Jane's gone home to spend time with her Mum.
Bought train tickets, with the first train being the 13.11 train to Bolton.
We were at the station early of course, at 13.00. All is well, ticket in hand, money paid....legitimate travellers.
Suddenly there is a brief announcement of a ten minute delay......then twenty minutes......then forty minutes.
Then suddenly the 13.11 has disappeared and the next train is the 14.10.
Then the 14.10 is expected at 14.12.......then 14.13......then 14.14.
In what other area of life would we put up with such shoddy treatment.
We bought a ticket for a train, it turns out, never existed......and consequently all other connections didn't exist either.
And they call it public service!

It's not good, but you should be able to claim a refund on the cost of the ticket.

Why not go round to the rail company's head office and give the managing director a good kick in the gonads? It's the only language they understand.

If Jane was more than an hour late at destination, you can claim compensation which varies according to operator, but is at least 50% of the ticket price. It is your duty to claim so as to discourage train operators from giving a shoddy service!

Rog It’s usually very easy to claim (depending on the operator). Jeff was delayed by a signalling fault on a trip from London to Tamworth on Virgin. It took moments to complete the online claim form and he received the full ticket price back a few weeks later.

Half the train operators in the UK are Germans, so make sure you claim your money back from their shitty service. Our grandfathers and fathers would be turning in their graves.
ps - I'll admit signalling faults are not down to the train companies - but their filthy rolling stock is!!

Rog and he received the full ticket price back a few weeks later. Sorry - that's not good enough, a few weeks later. When you buy a ticket they take your money there and then - not a few weeks later. A lot of profit is creamed off interest when YOUR money is in DEUTSCHE BAHN'S Swiss bank account.

We'll complain.
What's the worst that can happen?
