As for the small dutch looking sailing barge I will throw in the suggestion that it is a Skûtsje. Bargemast will know

Wicken lode. I remember that being rather isolated. Nice. It's definitely too full of weed for us to bother with now, should have done it in June. Oh well, it will be there for some time yet

Back to Ely and one for the narrow boat beards. I saw this arse end (on the inside) and thought i Looked more interesting than the standard sewer tube you see over here. So if the canal based old wreck spotters wondered where it is; it's here in Ely 🚢👍🍻 Nice boat, that, . . 'little Northwich' motor, much better looking than a little Woolwich and would carry about a ton more than a 'big' Northwich or Woolwich motor on the same draught. I think only around 10 or 12 of them were ever built. This looks identical to the ‘Clypeus’ that was moored in my yard for some years, before spending more years at the north end of BW’s Brentford ‘Island’ moorings after I booted her out for refusal to pay mooring fees. This and the more modern ‘Maharlika’ were in the charge of the Filipino widow of a Mr Rennie [presumed to be a descendant of the famous engineer]. If this is the same boat, it was obviously eventually sold on; my photos are from 2001.

Without a closer (better) view of the bow of this barge, I staying with the "Zandaak".
Peter.
