Boats must be very poorly designed (either that or you are all a bunch of whinging gits).
First Sunday in the monstrosity caravan (17ft by 7ft) and the roast chicken and potatoes and parsnips are cooking away, veg to go on in 15 mins. Mutt has been fed and is now fast asleep on her bed/sofa.
Very peaceful here (if you ignore the distant sound of the motorway) only other sounds are of a few other caravaners quietly enjoying themselves.
Maybe I should give up the idea of buying a boat and just do caravans instead.......................!

Have to admit TB is very addictive. I'd get much more done without it. Well... today is our recovery day for our legs having carried a heavy rucksack 40 miles up Wharfedale and into Ribbledale. This week we'll rip through many small jobs as just hanging about for Pirkko's niece who's coming to visit from London Fri 2200 - Sun 1800. One of the bell ringers might be driving our boat to Skipton Wed/Thurs - he's not driven a narrowboat before and I like to give others the chance to experience this boating lark.
4 weeks holiday behind us, 3.5 weeks on the boat. All has gone well, no problems so far. Against my nature but nice to slow down and get to 'play' with this boat and enjoy things instead of just rushing around. In 2 weeks' time we'll be driving the boat earnestly again for a 2-week non-stop sprint.

After living in Arizona for 8 years, and enduring temps of 120F +, I find this weather quite chilly. Good choice Mr Stabby ππ»πππππ

Just decided to buy a small mobile cheap caravan as a stop gap, currently on a site near Hinckley.

Always hot in a boat in weather like this. Because the interior of my boat resembles a coffin I always imagine that I am roasting in the fires of Hell, which will no doubt be my ultimate destiny.

Having a quick lookie at the Dimwit Mail (bloody hell, Meghan again!) I spies this: "Britain experiences its longest heatwave since 1976." "Fears are growing that Britain's sun-baked holiday beaches are about to be invaded by deadly Portuguese men o' war jellyfish, with lethal tentacles reaching out an incredible 160ft, the same as five London buses in a line." www.dailymail.co.uk/news/article-5905627/Met-Office-issues-thunderstorm-warning.html

Having given the jobs I needed to do, a severe looking at for the last couple of days (due to it being a bit warm) I decided this morning I needed to actually do some of the work or it weren't gonna happen. ........ I managed to make two big mooring pins and a stand for my little tunnel light (which is nearly finished it's restoration) I finished just before 12 and then retired inside for the afternoon (Sabina is lovely and cool inside, the rear windows of the wheelhouse are open and the air funnels through the boat and out of the forward hatch) Have to move along tomorrow as "Weldale", the museums Tom Pudding tug is going out on a run and I am moored alongside ..... I am hoping someone will move from the 14 day section and I can get along there ...... if not I will have to lurk on the Dog and Duck side.

Are there many tunnels on the North Sea?

Are there many tunnels on the North Sea? No but if it works well I might re-fit it, on Shapfell when I'm on the ditches

Are there many tunnels on the North Sea? No tunnels, and strangely enough no tide either. I've driven onto the Turku boat at Harwich dozens of times and every single time the linkspan has been virtually horizontal.
