Might be back down there on Thursday as it happens.depending on the tide timings and the probability of the plank being ready I might go to Limehouse instead. As I am incapable of planning anything more than about 20 hours in advance I have no idea what will actually happen . Whereas my plans for Thursday have been fixed - I am attending the final session of the Lords' Select Committee to discuss the further amendments the MLC will propose. Should be over by the early afternoon I hope.

Actually I just realised it will be Friday. A bit confused as one of my boats is in Brentford but the one I am going to be moving tomorrow (and Friday) is currently in Henley and even doing a long day Henley to Brentford is not possible due to locking hours. I could dry out at the waterman's I suppose..
So what about Friday for the plank walking ?

Actually, according to some researchers, Nebuchadnezzar used what is now known as the 'Archimedes screw" to water the hanging gardens of Babylon millennia before the innovative Greek. The evidence is persuasive. Just checking, it was in fact postulated that Nebuchadnezzar's Hanging Gardens was built instead by Sennacherib in Nineveh [even earlier]. Don't quite get the correlation, but for what it is worth -

Would have to be morning, as I am catching a train back to the Fens early afternoon - and for clarity, that is Friday 13th, not the 6th.

OK maybe another time.
Please keep the plank tied up under the bridge (could use cable ties) so it remains clean and not too hazardous. I would like my last walk to be a relaxing one.

I will get one set up for you when next back in Brentford. Just ensure your hepatitis jabs are up to date - although I have swum in the Brent often enough, my generation were built tougher, remember. This is above the Gauging Lock; would take too much time and effort to find photos of doing this on the tidal section [but downstream has more flow than here, and is cleaner] - It has to be realised that operating this equipment inevitably involves swimming. I have spent many an hour amused by the efforts of others to master it. This snap of a local councillor attempting it illustrates the point -
