As people have already said the prices advertised are the starting point ........ back in April I mentioned a 75' barge the "Gar" refloated after sinking at Beverly (the previous owner had put a new roof over the hold, spent a fortune spray foaming and fitting out, without doing any work on the hull first !!! ) It has been re bottomed (not very prettily, but solidly) it needs some work tidying round the stern and a few bits on deck but is basically all there and the work could be done where it is (John Dean's drydock in Hull)
Incidentally John also owns Dovedale which is lying afloat in the Old Harbour at Hull which he would shorten as required (I'm not certain but I think Dovedale has a Blackstone)
pm me if you want his phone number

If you have an engine/gearbox and all the rest that's needed to make it back into a self propelled barge, you'll be laughing.
Here's the text of the ad : Humber Barge GAR
Built in steel, this 75ft x 15ft 6ins (approx sizes) barge has just had her bottom completely steeled over. She has previously had an engine in her, so engine beds, rudder etc are still present. She already has her hold steeled over, with three hardwood pigeon boxes in situ, 16 portholes and has also previously been sprayfoam insulated. Recent survey. There are not many unconverted Humber Barges left now - a complete blank canvas and with having a new bottom on her she will last for many, many years. Laying East Yorkshire. £39,995
Peter.

I understand from John that he has an engine that he intends to put in it ..... to make it a more attractive proposition

Too late for me though .

I think Waddingtons still has some boats for sale as well, these have been well maintained

That sounds like good news, as I heard a while ago that most, if not all of their barges at Swindon had been cut up.

I went to have a look at a barge down at Hoo St Werburgh on the Mudway a while ago. Loads of big old boats down there I think that's where the oil barge which needs painting is located.

I've mentioned waddingtons before, it would definately be worth a look. Next time I'm in the area I will go and see what there's still is around at Swinton, just out of curiosity and for my love of old barges, not to buy one.

I might join you because I've been meaning to go and have a look for a while. It's one of the places I could possibly maybe get the boat out at some time in the future

They still have the better ones floating around but they do seem to be disappearing slowly
