Last time I went to Leicester I got accosted by this guy who claimed to know me..most insistent I'd 'looked after'him in the nick.... I took refuge in a coffee shop, phoned little sis(at that time she was a prison officer)..once I'd described the 'gentleman' got told to stay put, not to venture out and do a runner when he'd gone....seems she'd upset him. As Leicester provided clientele for the establishment little sis worked at, I decided there were safer places to wander...same thing happened when I admitted a patient to my ward..he was one of her ex cons..

There wasn't much rubbish in the river the last time we came through Leicester, oh apart from an Audi Estate.
At least the tailgate was up so you could easily spot it.

Delivering plants and flowers to garden centres in an articulated lorry. I think I'd rather still be out boating but HMRC seem to be rather insistent about me paying back the Tax Credits they gave me last year but shouldn't have. Having said that, I do quite enjoy driving an articulated lorry, it's just a shame we don't do the ultra-long-haul European jobs any more.

Boating and beer is always good. I usually try to do the 4 b's myself. boating beer and bacon and bread. Can't comment on the W though.

I'm not convinced about that but I have heard that if you start getting notices from crt on your boat you can ask them for logs. Its getting chilly now so that could be useful and the money saved could be used to buy beer. =free beer.
No idea about gear as I don't smoke these days.

A beautiful busy day yesterday. Some good progress on getting ready for the Turbo project - more on that later on in the appropriate thread - I can't have naughtyfox picking me up on derailing a thread.... For some time we have been trying to get a bit of night cruising in, for various reasons it hasn't happened. Yesterday the dwarf had an invite to a party at Wicksteed park 17:30 -19:30 Absolutely perfect timing for me to play with my engine and have it ready for a run down the river when they returned. Jobs sorted, boat ready, quick pizza tea for Mrs Gazza and I then we were off by 20:30 with the Dwarfs mate along for the ride in the rapidly failing light. We passed an absolutely rammed Friends of the River Nene Pear Tree Farm mooring, a few surprised looks to see a boat on the move. Plenty of bats whizzing about and a few roosting birds put up near Wadenhoe, spin round at the pub which was also full and it was back home. By now totally dark so a good opportunity to see how good the cordless LED work lamp was as a headlight. The answer? Plenty good enough - it's a flood rather than a spot so no defined beam but it lit up the starboard bank with ease and was more than adequate to navigate by. Probably not ideal for anyone coming in the opposite direction but there we go! The LED stern lamp I fitted some time back casts a beautiful light on the prop wash making the water iridescent and lighting up the bubbles in a most agreeable fashion. Approaching Pear Tree and we were treated to a lot of bright led torch waving - one idiot unhelpfully shinning his torch directly at me two kids on board and enjoying the novelty of cruising at night meant he didn't get the tirade of abuse he deserved! 10 minutes later and we were tied up back on our mooring. 5 miles, 45 minutes cruising, a good shakedown of my mods and a couple of happy children. We retired to the bar for a celebration π»π’π

Quiet day at Hatton Top Lock - going down the flight tomorrow. Possible showers in the morning & cloudy throughout the day so that should keep proceedings cool.
