Fishermen and farmers should have red hot mooring pins poked in their eyes. I think many would be disgusted to see how they 'play' with animals at abattoirs. A frank radio discussion on modern farming methods.

Interesting comment from the RSPCA ; they hand out the info about Angel Wing because of the number of people who call in bird with injured wing when in fact it is Angel Wing.. Angel Wing is due to inter breeding and causes one or both wings to be deformed. Looks a lot worse than it is, the birds are not in pain and flying abilities remain but can be compromised. Phil

Sorry I can't stop, I'm heading out to lassoo as many fishermen I can find, Tie them up with their own line and leave them in a bush to starve to death in pain.
*ponders whether I'm overreacting*

Fishing line is terrible stuff to abandon.
But so is most litter (plastic rings off four packs are particularly bad).
It's not anglers that are the problem.
It's careless, lazy litter bugs who cast aside stuff without a moments thought.
That some are anglers, doesn't damn all anglers.

So what should the caring angler do when his line is snagged under water or across the other side of the canal and breaks despite best efforts to get it back in one piece?
My answer would be stop fucking fishing you tosser, you're a problem. This isn't going to make any headway when the chaps hobby centres around torturing wildlife that he probably tells himself haven't got meaningful brains and don't register pain anyway. By extension he probably thinks the same about ducks and swans, but if he's concerned about the line that snapped, what does he do?

I took my kids to "undersea world" 20 years ago. There was, for want of a better description, a flatfish petting tank. The plaice and other similar fish (I'm no expert) came up to the surface to have their heads scratched. They weren't natures unfeeling robots, that's for sure. I still eat the tasty feckers, but I'm in no doubt about their sanity.

There used to be a sign in Bolton swimming pool that stated 'No Petting'. I thought that was something to do with Northerners calling each other 'Pet'.
Around Stoke-on-Trent they say "Me Duck" instead of Pet or Darling.

If you're a fucking angler then it looks like it. What I gathered from Lollygagger's post was that his view of fucking anglers is that the fucking fuckers should fucking fuck off. I have to say I fucking agree with that. Angling is a fucking disgrace. And no I am not a fucking vegan I had a tin of sardines earlier it was fucking delicious.

When I see all that expensive equipment arrayed around them and see the look on their little faces I always have a wry chuckle at my canniness, because I can be as miserable as fuck for nothing.

Rog No. Just generally putting it out there. If it was aimed at anyone in particular I'd have quoted them and used "twat" as the obscenity. Do you angle? I may have missed you saying so. Do you think fish have no feelings or consciousness? If you do in fact angle and your line breaks across the canal, what do you do? I'm not a vegan either and I have nothing against fishing for food.
