Now I know a lot less than anyone else about motorcycles but is this going to work? An electric Harley? Will they have some sort of sound system and vibrators or something ? en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Harley-Davidson_LiveWireSeems interesting to me as I really like quiet things.

An electric Harley no no no that won't do at all, it wouldn't work at all being all quiet and silent sort if thing; a Harley has to make your ears bleed Phil

actually although I liked the post Phil ..... Harleys are about my least favourite motorcycle ...... A friend many years ago was a dealer for Harley and was always trying to get me to change my allegiance from Italian bikes like Laverda and Motor Guzzi, to them. I always used to jokingly tell him that if you attach a chain to one it would make a grand mud weight for a big boat.

However it means you no longer will have something hot and throbbing between your legs

Its the way forward and China is way in the lead on these things It maybe the way forward, I really hope itβs not though. I love my old petrol carb bikes. I guess the future will bring automated vehicles powered by batteries. We will be eating bacon flavoured pills for sustainance, having sex with robots and drinking protein shakes. For now though Iβm riding fast and drinking beer with my burgers. The only plus I can see coming is that an electric Harley will at least be a little quicker than a tractor...

just went past a bikers cafe near Wembley. Some nice equipment outside. Shiny engines etc. I wonder how easy it would be to move from petrol to electric.
Electric is always going to have a better 0-60 but its awkward to polish batteries.
Maybe a battery in a chromed aluminium casing ?

I guarantee a poxy electric motor will never make this ludicrous sound. An engine that has escaped from its frame

The early Evo stuff used to have oil pump problems that wrecked the engines!! Nightmare trying to claim on the warranties as well, Big Gaz bought his on finance luckily, he just cancelled the payments and dumped it at the finance company, I know because we put it in my Dodge Ram to do it! So funny when Lombard tried to get us to take it away.

I'm no fan of motor cycles.
But isn't part of the point of a bike, the noise.
It'd be like having an opera without singing surely.

A lot of things still have to be done to make electric vehicles really "clean" and "eco-friendly", as they may not produce the particules that are coming out off diesel exhausts, but to produce them a lot more CO2 had to be produce for the creation of an electric vehicle.
Studies tell that you have to use an electric car for many miles to break even with a combustion engined car, and many more to make it an advantage.
Here's some reading, while I continue driving my old diesel, until they don't allow me to drive it anywhere anymore.
Peter.
