Here's what I did on my birthday. The wet room floor has always been a bit of a mess, ever since I bought the boat. It's made of steel and being in a perennially damp environment it has rusted and has simply been bodged with a tosh-over of paint by owners, including myself. But now is the time for a permanent fix. So I bought some sander sheets from Screwfix, and rubbed it down. I also bought some red oxide primer, but I haven't painted it yet as I've ordered some Hammerite rust converter online and this will arrive in the week. I also have to work around needing to shower daily now that I am working- when I am out boating I don't bother with such luxuries. So, I'm going to rust convert it, then paint it in primer, then topcoat it in the same green that the exterior of the boat is painted in. Then I'm going to mask off a diamond shape centrally and paint that cream. Then finally I'm going to create a playing card stencil, probably a heart, and paint that on top. So basically I'm going to recreate the pattern seen on some sliding roof hatches. If it all works out, then I will paint my roof hatch the same way when I have the time, obviously now I'm back Elephant Racing, spare time is a limited commodity. I did manage to varnish the beading at the top of the shower tray, and the plinth that the toilet sits on, so all in all a fairly productive day. I'll post some more pics as the job progresses, although I am expecting it to take several months due to other commitments. Incidentally, it's four years to the day since I caught the train to Crewe and then a taxi to Aqueduct Marina, and drove Desiree away... where does the time go?

...or you could just drop in a plastic shower tray. Warmer on the feet in winter.

Any plans to change the tiles? Yes- although they aren't actually tiles, they are shower panels. There are three jobs that need doing, painting the floor, replacing the sink and replacing the shower panels, and the shower panels are no. 3 on the list. Hopefully I will find the time to do all three jobs over the Winter, but as I only work for 5-6 months a year then obviously I have to take on as much work as I am legally allowed to do which restricts time available for boat work.
