I sometimes wonder if teenagers use forums and build up a persona but then if someone offers to meet for a beer they suddenly shy away. Pretend to be someone they are not for entertainment. It must happen in forums. There will be a lot of tech savvy kids about who might fancy a bit of trolling or having a giggle. I suppose on a niche forum it might not be so likely.
One great thing with unmoderated is that trolls don't last long ecause the group/peer moderation will rapidly shut them down. Whereas on a moderated forum the onus is on the moderators not the forum contributors to sort it.
It would be interesting to see cwdf go unmoderated say for a week (someone to keep an eye on libel an legal shit). Just a week. Or maybe just a day.
As an experiment.

He's just a potty mouthed prick is Martin. Hardly worth leaving the forum over that twat. Rabies is just a sheepshagger. You're eloquence precedes you.

I think the pair of them use the forums to compensate for something missing in their real lives. It's difficult to take them seriously.
More to be pitied that scolded as my old mum used to say.

They have been looking for an opportunity to do it for a while, so dont feel bad about it. Others have been leaving the forum, as they are pissed off with the new mods. People like Graham and MJG are a waste of space, and if they were to come here I think I would have to leave the forum, as they are destructive and really dont have anything to offer other than negativity, so for me its good residence to bad rubbish if they were to come here I think I would have to leave the forum. Hang on!! Tough old squadie and ex garage proprietor like you couldn't tell the pair of em to do one in Anglo Saxon without mod intervention? I don't believe it! JohnV has broadcast his whereabouts for Martin to follow through with his promise, and so far as we know this hasn't and won't materialise. My boss would describe Graham and Martin as full of piss and wind Gazza the pair of them suck the life out of any discussion and ruin it for me! they are like a pair of vampires just looking for blood [says he sharpening his stakes] honestly I couldnt watch them destroy this bit of escapism that Delta and us have created

He may be lurking, read what you said and try to force the issue. Twat. Just block him, though you may still see quoted posts.

I like the wrecking bar. That is something I do like. I've got a wee collection of wrecking bars including a very nice hand forged 5 foot bar with a lovely "beak" on the end which I found on the Thames foreshore (collected it in the car as was too heavy/illegal). Others I have hauled out of the cut with big magnets.
Great tools I have yet to find a valid use for in my day to day life.
In the past I have cut them to make mooring pins but the actual item itself if its an old one is a work of blacksmith art so would be criminal to cut it.

I honestly believe most people on here, and a good majority over there are good people. It's a shame to focus on just the bad, as that certainly does 'suck the joy out' of the forums. I'm certain Davies and the rest view this place endlessly ... but there's no way they'll be jumping in any time soon. Don't let them put you off Peter Rog

It depends what you want to wreck but if the shed needs to go I think it would be straightforward specially with the sledgehammer to help Eta it would be nice to see a picture of the other end. Tricky to tell from a photo but it has a bit of a look of an old blacksmith made one to me. I'd like that but not sure if you visit London by car. If so then next time I'll be around to make the tea. Without fail

I think the pair of them use the forums to compensate for something missing in their real lives. It's difficult to take them seriously. I had a quick look at the carnage on that Canalworld thread (back in a moment to read how it got up to the lock) (lock, haha! geddit? more locks on CWDF than the Huddersfield Narrow!) and a quick think about Martin 'n' Rabies; with them being on several discussion forums.... I think I'd just describe them as "special needs".

Have you been in contact with the Victoria & Albert Museum? They might like to exhibit your finds.

Interesting you mention that as an old school friend of mine has a misses who is a curator at the V&A. I never considered the V&A before . It is a great museum. Thanks for that
