We usually do about 3 big trips each year before hovering between the South Oxford and GU in the winter.
We enjoyed the trip to Yorkshire a few years back but the gig money pretty much just covered the car trip too and from the Herts/Beds/Bucks area for the gig!
Perhaps we should finally attempt the Nene & Ouse (last time my back was playing up so was worried about not being able to pull the boat in).
We’ve enjoyed the K&A and Llangollen (twice). Ashby, peak forest, Caldon, London, Thames, Trent, Stratford. Perhaps time to do a few repeats. Is the Avon loop worth doing up via the Severn to Brum?

Not a rivers fan, but the Severn to Worcester and then up the Birmingham and Worcester canal is terrific.
We love Worcester. May have to go ourselves at the back end of next year.
Wherever you go, hope you have a great time.

It would be very tempting to go the other way down the Severn and do the K&A again (one way this time). The expense and risk worries me a bit though.

Have to pay to use the Avon and it's probably worth paying the extra tenner for a 14 day licence.

I don’t think we will need the 14 day licence though as we will be moving most days. Then again for £10, might be a good back up in case I get called out! Have you done that stretch then? Good views of the countryside?

ps - our plans, if anybody wishes to avoid us: Xmas: Nantwich to Stourport. March: hanging around that end of the Staffs & Worcs. From June to Aug: Stourport (area) to Market Harborough, Braunston, Oxford, down the K&A to Devizes.

Yes, I would do it again, all very pleasant. Mooring can be a little sparse on the southernmost part particularly. Keep a close eye on the river level boards because they can go into the red even during fine weather if it's been raining elsewhere a couple of days earlier. Diesel is pricey at the few places that sell it so fill up beforehand.

I'm not going to make any firm plans for next year until I find out where Rog is going to be. I bumped into him twice this year and got away with it, but you can't ride your luck indefinitely.

Due to our Liverpool & Lancaster plans being somewhat scuppered this year,we did one of our favourite trips again.Started at Norbury,so along the Shroppie to the Staffs & Worcester, onto the Severn at Stourport, various stops on the Severn & then through Gloucester onto the Gloucester & Sharpness.Next was onto the Avon at Tewkesbury & the best part of 2 weeks bimbling-stopping at some of the smaller places/villages.Return journey was back onto the Severn & a slow wend home.We managed to spend 11 weeks just pottering-sooooo relaxing. So,I'd say yes to the Severn & Avon.👍Next year...Liverpool & the Lancaster(hopefully !).

We went down the Avon from Stratford then back up the Severn last year. We liked it very much. Preferred the Avon, seemed more to do and visit , views were better too.

The river Wey is nice. And there is the possibility of also doing the Basingstoke canal if there is enough water about (is if it ever rains again).
Its National trust (wey) so costs extra but its a really nice little river navigation. Thames transit license was £10 which gives you 25h from teddington (its only about 4 hours but that means you can stop and take it easy). The Wey is completely different to other canals. Its what would happen if canals were privatised. Quite interesting to see the difference.
Yes its rather twee to be fair.
Relaxing though and part of the easily accessed waterway network so worth a go if possible.
