Every cloud has a silver lining. At least it looks like the awful B.Johnson will not end up being PM. Obviously none of these people live in the ordinary world so its just a power struggle at the end of the day.
Raab obviously making moves for PM.

Bearing in mind the Brexiteer demographics, I don't think this proposed temporary deal will lead to rioting on the streets should it go through.

Raab obviously making moves for PM. Of perhaps more direct boating pertinency, Dominic Raab is the one who has kicked off the formation of a group of authorities (including CaRT; EA; AINA; London Councils; Broads Authority; PLA, and the Ministry of Housing, Communities & Local Government) to look for "appropriate solutions" to the 'problem' presented by live-aboard boaters, otherwise presented as the tension between those who choose to live on the waterways, and those who use them for recreation.

That's interesting. I thought the name rang a bell somewhere.

Bearing in mind the Brexiteer demographics, I don't think this proposed temporary deal will lead to rioting on the streets should it go through. It's what's needed, though, a good 'ol ruckus with politicians getting hob-nailed boots in the nether regions. Sadly, most Brits are too overweight (fat) and too idle to get up from the sofa. Oh well, you get what you deserve - including CRT and Disrict Enforcement, and judges who can't even be bothered to read up on what the case being presented to them is about. Although, if you were a politician 'of weight' (such as Saggy May), how can you make something come true if Big Businesses don't want it? They know who's door step on which to leave the severed horse's head. But as an out-and-out liar ("Brexit means Brexit" when she obviously meant nothing of the sort) she should have her previous 2 years' salary removed from her bank account, and serve time in prison for Contempt of the British People.

Raab seems to be the bookies favourite for next PM. I wonder if he will use his influence as leader to arrange for itinerant boat dwellers to be outlawed.
If he's got a bee in his bonnet about it, which appears to be the case, then there may be some changes coming quite soon it seems.

I presume you have a nice warm house to go to.

Just looked him up he's 44 ! Born two months before me. I always think of influential politicians as being older than that. The signs of aging.

It seems that his "issues" with itinerant boat dwellers comes from living near Walton on Thames. I know that area well. Yes there are some problems in the general vicinity with "squatter" boats.
It seems to be directly related to two things one being the massive increase in property values (Labour caused this) and the other being the massive influx of temporary residents from eastern European countries (Labour caused this).
Loads of furriners on boats round there.
So in theory if brexit did happen and the furriners evaporated and property prices crashed then the problem might sort itself out without any need for government intervention.

Slavery in Yorkshire: Examples of poor living conditions for exploited workers included; overcrowded and unsanitary accommodation; shared mattresses on the floor; lack of food with little money to buy more; low or no wages; verbal abuse and humiliation; working in wet clothing and shoes without protective equipment; long hours with few breaks. Other evidence concerned extreme forms of labour exploitation in hand car washes including reports of worker control exercised through passports or identification documents being withheld, threats of denouncement to the immigration authorities, the threat of or infliction of physical abuse, and debt bondage. It seems that his "issues" with itinerant boat dwellers comes from living near Walton on Thames. His letters sparking the DEFRA initiative were prompted by complaints from residents nearby Hurst Park, but the remit of the resultant ‘group’ extends nationally, and is focussed on moorings alongside public waterside available to all boaters. That there IS a tension between those wanting temporary visitor moorings and those who wish to appropriate public moorings for quasi-permanent residential use is undeniable. The fact that all relevant authorities seem intent only on working out avenues of control absent appropriate legislation is disturbing. Even those adopting the correct route to legitimate control of their moorings have gone way over the top in making even genuine visits impractical (e.g. Richmond’s one hour limits).
