As you didn't say this was your opinion, you have stated this as fact, so presumably could be sued for libel yourself? Stop me if I have told this before – my favourite retraction of a gross slander occurred decades ago in the Canberra Parliament (hence the slander not actionable due to privilege, but anyway). During a heated debate, one MP got up to refute something said by an opponent, concluding: “ the Honourable Member obviously does not have the brains of a donkey!” Uproar over the insult ensued, but before any order could be called for, the MP jumped back up on his feet and said “ Mr Chairman, I would like to withdraw that statement, made in the heat of the moment, and apologise to the Honourable Member unreservedly. It was both unkind and untrue; the Honourable Member DOES have the brains of a donkey.” ...I see the same shit on CWF every once in a while...

I understood that expressing an honestly held opinion was perfectly legitimate, even if inaccurate. I understood that the tag line on Tony Dunkley's avatar was related to this pint. Anyway, I'll leave you to your slightly ridiculous action. Rog You are entitled to your opinion, Rog, and I have no argument with you or anyone else expressing similar views. Had the delightful MrStabby confined himself to expressing an honestly held opinion as opposed to presenting/publishing outright lies and distortions as a factual account of my dealings with a third party, then I wouldn't be the slightest bit concerned over anything he has posted on a public internet forum, or any where else. My reputation and name, built up over a period of some 52 years of professionally maintaining and repairing a wide variety of types/makes of diesel engines is immune to harm from anything that the likes of a MrStabby could ever do or say, but the possible effect on potential new customers reading or partaking on this or any other forum is an entirely different matter. As I have said earlier, contact with the 'no win, no pay' lawyers was initiated by a long-standing customer of mine who was outraged by the garbage that was posted on here with the clear intention of inflicting harm on me and my business interests. Precisely why MrStabby chose to embark on his malicious ravings is quite beyond me, but in the absence of a retraction and apology before Wednesday 2 January 2019 I will be back in touch with the Solicitors who have previously expressed a willingness to handle this matter, asking them for written proposals on how best to proceed. I strongly believe your reputation is unaffected by the nonsense on this forum. It is sad to see anyone take this place so seriously. But as far as I have seen, you've both been very insulting about each other regarding a number of incidents. I'll leave you to it, but hope common sense prevails and the dispute forgotton. Happy and healthy 2019. Rog

In response to Bassplayer's query about linking someone's real identity with a stupid name they feel it necessary to hide behind on a forum such as this. I'd say most people have fun user names. For fun. Not for hiding behind. This is an internet forum in the year 2018, not the British Library in 1873. 'Fun' names, as you describe them, are simply that, just 'fun' names, . . . but I can't help having some serious doubts as to the state of mind of someone who labels himself as 'MrStabby', and is happy to post the sort of thing he did on 25 December 2018 at 1804 hrs on page 2 of the "What do you think the chances are?" thread.

I vaguely remember it was a joke...have they been banned now?

Its a joke name sir. With the forum software you can alter your display name at any time you wish. As far as I recall the name was developed as a light hearted comment around the forum user's suggestion that he would violently kill any scrote who threatened to cause harm to his son. There was suggestion of a knife being used as an offensive weapon.
It was all very relaxing as was the prostitute murdering.
If you click on the display name it takes you to the profile which will give you the registered name. That may also be a joke name but it is allowable to have a joke display name as well as another seperate joke registration name.
Bit of a joke really but there we are.
My name is Andrew Bennett.

I didn't label myself as "Mr Stabby". Delta9 did. Prior to being renamed I was registered as "Mr Snot Gobbler". You'd remember that if you didn't have senile dementia.

Perhaps you should rephrase the latter part to say
"You should remember that. In my opinion you may have a neurodegenerative condition"

Thank you for clarifying that point. From now on I'll desist from referring to you as 'Mr Shit-for-Brains' and substitute the word ' Snot' instead.
