Anyway, I just looked that bridge up on Street View - Mill Lane. That's 'our' canal! Came through there in August, and back again under that bridge in June. Any news on what happened, or is 'convoi exceptionnel' (snigger!) still stuck on top of the bridge?
I have asked if there is a book that shows bad spots on roads in Finland, for bus and truck drivers, eg. low bridges, hump-backed bridges (as in this case), tight corners/bends, etc. Apparently no such guide exists, which I find rather short-sighted. Is there no such guide for the UK, listing all the potential hazards on the roads for drivers of large/long/wide vehicles? If not, there should be!

Several years ago, we met a lovely large family, a couple with learning difficulties, on a day boat, who'd stopped at the hotel canal side at Acton Trussel for a lunch time meal and drink. They were turned away by the staff who 'didn't want boaters in'. Quite annoyed at the time and was inclined to go and cause an issue, but we didn't. It struck a chord however, some weeks later when we read in a newspaper supplement that Acton Trussel was the 'Swinging capital of the midlands'. Not that posh then Rog

Not the same as no boaters but once coming home from holiday I was rejected a pub we stopped at for lunch because I was wearing a T-shirt . I nipped out to the car and came back wearing a suit, shirt and tie. The Landlords face was a picture, I can see it now, oh and lunch was nothing to write home about. Phil

I don't really do pubs but there was one occasion where refusing us entry was unreasonable. I was moving a narrow boat with my friend and we had just completed 50 Grand Union locks in one day. I was doing the winding he was doing the steering.
Started at Cassio bridge first thing in morning. Arrived at Grove Lock near Leighton Buzzard -before- pub closing time (there is a pub beside the lock). They said you can't come in because we are closing. It was before closing time and people were in there.
We could have really done with a few minutes !not on the boat! to relax. Moored outside anyway so would have left after one pint. That was quite a tiring day.

And now for something completely completely different, you don't see this every day, in fact probably no Brit has ever seen this. Took my bus to Toholampi garage/depot for 'grease service' (every 10,000km). My bus the one at back:
