I found a solution to the spanner problem yesterday. I dropped one in the canal. Thatβs one less to pick up by accident. Was it the 10mm or the 13mm?

Love boating where the water is deep enough! Hate queueing at locks (not a problem where I am going) Not overly keen on other boaters getting in the way (not a problem where I am going) Can't wait Bar is open to AWCC members from 12:00 - 12:01 on the sixth Sunday of every month π I am an AWCC member. Thanks for explaining why I am permanently p**sed!

For me cruising is the best bit, even in the middle of the winter. Living on the boat is great too, Iβd never want to go back to living in a house full time but I guess sometime in the future that choice will be taken away from me.
So enjoy it while you can folks.

We had a dead sheep hung up on the weir barrier and we would visit it each day to see if it had popped. This amidst the heatwave last year. It got bigger and bigger, local kids came down to swim below the weir and would throw stones at it and poke it with long sticks from the weir footbridge but it refused to go. The poor thing just disappeared overnight.Phil I blame the hungry Romanians. Big Ishuuu ... Big Ishuuu ... Big Ishuuu - the plague of every High Street.

Are you aware Middle lock, Fradley is closed until 12 March (if I remember correctly). The beers still good in the Swan though Rog No I wasn't, but no problem, I'll just go the other way. @mrstabby I'd have a good look at the stoppages. If you mean Brum by 'other way' I think Farmers locks are still shut. Good luck with it either route ... can't beat getting on the move Rog

It's only 12 days until it re-opens. Unfortunately though the weather is a bit miserable at the moment so I'll probably hang on a bit to see if it clears up a bit, I think the glorious little piece of Summer we had in February is over now. But at least the canal isn't frozen over as it was this time last year.

I had scheduled internal works on Sabina for this time of year with the end of March to do the repairs on Shapfell and get her underway up the ditches ...... the best laid plans etc.....

I hope "the other way'' means down the Trent before crossing the Pennines on the Leeds & Liverpool, . . or do you mean through Brum and then on to the Shroppie's Cut, or back onto the Trent & Mersey at Great Haywood ?

Winding hole is Marston Jn so a long reverse back from bridge 6. There are a lot of stoppages until 15th March, so Iβd check carefully if I were you.

Well, I don't mind just taking a slow run up to Fradley and spending a few days there, just getting a bit bored on my mooring now so a change of scenery is due now. Atherstone is always nice to spend a few days in too. Originally I didn't plan to set off until mid-March but work finishing early has changed things a bit.
