I'm just amazed that anybody is allowed to stand so close to such a dangerous piece of machinery without having to wear a hi-viz vest.

Ah yes! But P2 has to drop the u/c and land the thing if P1 gets shot to smithereens by the Red Baron π Enjoyed the video.... looks fun. Well, kts + 10% = mph, more or less. 135 kts = 149mph at a guess.
OK well actually, calculating it properly, it's 155, ~ 15% more. But close enough!

But seriously, you are right in that to be Airside one has to wear high viz. It's an obsessional thing perpetrated by people who have no idea what actual safety is all about.
Not sure whether they had a dispensation from the airport, or are just hoping nobody noticed. They possibly get away with it by saying that punters like me have to be escorted airside. In the same way that you can disembark an aircraft as a passenger and walk to the terminal without hi viz, but under supervision / escort.

Same sequence but with the rear facing camera. Bloody hell, my face is getting really fat. I must cut down on the gin. Screwing my eyes up a bit - should have taken sunglasses.

Great footage Nick. You do remind me of Portillo a bit.

I thought that was very refreshing, and you do look a bit of a pratt,, one day only, it's allowed! Do they have guns that fire between the prop blades? Noi think the guns were far enough outboard to miss the prop. The Me109 had a central gun synchronised to the prop.

Brilliant and thanks for posting.
You just look giddy and excited, which is refreshing to see.
Enthusiasm can be contagious, like laughter and good humour.

What lovely pictures and a fab memory moment to look back on... I'd love to go up in a spitfire but I don't think I'd pay that much...Ive allocated all my spare cash on travel plans and health permitting off on long long trip next year.

I think that's about as close to a 'rear view' as the forum would wish for, thanks very much.

Great day, looks like a lot of fun.
If Nick is Biggles, then I guess Jeff must be Algy, and Stabbly is auditioning for the part of Ginger. These chaps seemed to live in a world without women too...

I think Nick should try the "Lancaster Experience" next, I'm sure he'd make an excellent rear gunner.
