No comments from that prat JohnV since he started this thread. Shop a forum member today and collect your £50 prize. Peer moderation in action. I don't like something you did,so will start a thread about it. It’s Ok, I’ve seen trolls completely wreck health support forums. That’s why internet forums will never replace real life interaction and will have to be treated purely as ‘entertainment’. That may be a good or bad thing depending whether the only major access you have to the real world is through an internet forum. Either way, it doesn’t hurt to be nice.

Congratulations, you just won £50 What is the forum etiquette regarding deleting posts? Do I go first,or is it you? Oh No, that ones staying… you're seemingly benign but asinine comments are poison and rendered ineffective by removal, undeleted ones of mine are chosen specifically. A fact that frustrates you no end, because you cant quite work it out!

dogless I disagree. Trolls are a function of a regulated system (moderated forum in this case). If the system is not regulated (unmoderated forum) then it is impossible for a troll to exist because everybody contributing is a troll in the first place because their intention is to get someone to reply. Trolling. You are one of the people who has previously expressed the view that the forum is for entertainment. Don't forget that sense of humour varies widely and randomly among people. What you view as "disruption" could quite easily be viewed as "having a giggle" by others. The forum is too small and irrelevant to be disrupted anyway.

So now you're telling me what's funny @someboater ?
Unmoderated means we are all free to say what we wish.
That includes being free to say when we don't like stuff.
It's all out there with equal importance.
However messing with posts and avatars is merely disruptive and contributes nothing.

Its technically impossible for trolls to exist on an unmoderated forum. When people just visit to contribute little but cause maximum disruption, I believe that's trolling. There are no 'trolls' here, Rog. There are just a few who like to inject a bit of sparkle now & then. Just skip over it if you see it and don't approve. There's a lot of serious stuff on Thunderboat, and well you know it. What is going on with you lot this week? Oh.... I went to B&Q and there was a man swearing. Oh... someone told me to slow down.

All I can see at the moment is a desperate display by a individual who has lots of sock puppets. Yes, that could be funny or annoying depending on one’s views. I find it interesting...in a kind of Steve Davis way...

I don't have any sock puppets. I’ll need confirmation from your sock puppets to believe that.

The good thing about real life is that you can’t mess about with posts and avatars. In a pub (or non alcoholic establishment!), if someone is annoying you can chuck them out of the pub. That’s true public moderation!
