"With El Daddio Don in town, it’s rather pleasant to see a President’s wife with a touch of glamour and panache finally visit, especially when you consider the previous crones:
Ronnie’s wife: Nancy the grandmother Bush’s wife: Barbara the great grandmother Clinton’s wife: Lezza Dubbya’s wife: Scary Mary Obama’s husband: Wrestler"

Trump shows no respect for anyone else, unless there is something in it for him. We shouldn't have invited him. Well, we seemed to have no problem inviting Saudi Arabia’s Crown Prince Mohammad bin Salman, ruler of a country where women are routinely executed for having the temerity to be raped to London. Part of me gets why the focus is on Trump - partly because I think we hold the USA to higher standards and it's pretty much expected that human rights is a non-existant entity in the middle east - of course that is no excuse and I struggle to understand why there aren't the same protests etc. when such people come to visit. Or maybe there is, just on a much less significant level. Certainly not enough to feature in the media. Either way there are definitely some double standards in place. That said, I still fully agree with protests against Trump's visit.

Cracks me up that not more than a few weeks ago, the lefties were bemoaning that they were getting abuse from the public, yet here they are throwing abuse at a democratically elected head of state. Hypocrisy. Yes, the guy does behave like a numpty, but the dwarf Khan and pygmy Corbyn are just as bad. A pity that assassination attempts are not trendy anymore.

If we are obliged to humour an idiot, so be it.
Trump is not the last President, only the current one.
The office of POTUS is worthy of such 'special treatment' even if the incumbent is a failed reality tv star.

That said, I still fully agree with protests against Trump's visit. It could be that those who protest are racist. I'll explain: In their minds Trump, being a white man from a developed nation, should by now know how to behave. Those from Arab countries (for example) are not as developed, politically and morally, as their counterparts from developed nations. Kind of inferior I suppose but because of this, they are cut some slack from the expectation that all politicians everywhere should embrace the notions of so called progressive politics; inclusion, equality etc.

It is racism. These protesters were nowhere to be seen during Obama's state visit in 2011, since when there has been virtually no change in US foreign policy.

Trump hasn't started any wars in his first couple of years, unlike Obama.

Has Sadiq stabbed him yet? No, apparently he was proposing to contract it out. But no idea who he could go to for such a deed. coincidentally I’ve been trying to phone Mr Stabby all night, he seems to be engaged.

Maybe. Thing is, there should be a logical reason why the types in question abhor Trump, whose 'crimes' don't come close to pushing homosexuals off tall buildings, yet seem more tolerant of those that commit such heinous acts.

Virtually no change in US foreign policy? Are you having a laugh? What has changed? They're still sucking up to the Saudis because it's a convenient country to get oil from. And still sniffing cocaine from South America. I think that about sums up US foreign policy.
