T has got very windy for a while here and I heard a "bang" didn't pay too much attention as there is a lot of junk floating downstream. Ambled up to wheelhouse to find I was out in the middle of the river only held by a bow line!!!
Put the rudder hard over in the hope it would swing me in without putting too much strain on the remaining line .... it only came in a little way but enough for me (after quite a few goes) to lassoo an post a bit further aft than the bow line and get a spring on it.
The steel post my stern line and original spring were connected too had gone .... presumably sheered off because of the lines pulling near the top of a long post putting a hell of a strain on the base.
With a fore spring ashore I was then able to use the engine to push me alongside and I was then able (again after quite a few goes) to get a stern line onto the post used for the bow line of the barge behind me !!!
I didn't expect that amount of excitement ...... I am going to have to do a bit more practise rope throwing .... it;s bloody hard work withthe size ropes I use

The gaugemap map of UK is always interesting to look at. Blue indicating "flooding possible". Current status I uploaded a screenshot. I suppose there might be a way to host it directly on the forum not sure how though. Nothing much happening down south.

I drove through some horrible floods this am as I detoured to put flowers on mums grave...A big car got through ok then a white van went ahead of me and put his foot down(plonker)..he came to grief on the far side where they stalled and I just kept going..I figured 2 grown men didn't need any smart comments from me.... I guess they'd just have to sit n dry out..There was a stretch of dry road then yet more floods.
