I don't believe anyone doubts that climate change is real ... isn't it the causes that are contentious ?

I'm not a firm believer in climate change due to our existence. I'm more inclined to believe we are experiencing a cycle the earth is going through. Probably still thawing from the ice age. Perhaps we are going to experience a hot age just before we either hit the sun, or blow up.

NOT !!!! an America, where most folk deny evolutionism and believe in creationism, they have similar attitudes.

This subject has never been allowed to be anything other than an excuse for manipulation and taxation. Now it's become mainstream in the West at leasst, but only because...
Climate and environmental concern has been dumbed down and hijacked by the celebrity circus on a level with royal / pop / media personality dribble. Consequently we are faced with a herd of fashionably "woke" two-faced over-privileged twats competitively advertising the virtuous ways all over the media. These people employ PR companies to link them to whatever is right on fashionable and scribble over anything negative. Cue Ricky Gervais.
People would rather read about Greta etc being two-faced, the royal family...
After all, what the heck can I, as one of the out of control billions on the planet really do about the oceans warming up. Particularly when the consumer world is going hell for leather to use up every resource it can get it's greedy hands on. If for example you produce negative impact palm oil on your own few farms you van claim this as fact while your main business is buying/selling the samep from producers hacking their way through the rain forests. The same trick is used for everything, where the heck does anyone get sustainable oak on the scale of "oak furniture land" for instance. They don't, it's a con. Hardwood grows to slowly to be economical. Maybe by some trick replacing it with pine in some areas entitles you to the green credibility to deal also in masses of rain forest hardwood. We've all seen these immense trees, maybe even only one trunk fits on a lorry, those didn't grow in an economical time, they are hundreds of years old. Besides the argued effects on the climate, these commercially unreplaceable trees are being wasted and turned into stuff that could be made from truly credible pine.
Seems to me that wealth is directly proportional to consumption. People are not thick and they can see their neighbour consuming twice as much as they do, a bloke down the road 10x, everyone highlighted in the media 50x up to the obscenely wealthy probably consuming/polluting as much as 1,000 people, or 10,000 or 100,000. As usual the plebs will be forced to pay through the nose to sit at home in the cold while the wealthy live it up like there is no tomorrow. This will never change and by all accounts the wealthy continue to hold the rest of us in a strangle hold while they increase their wealth and consumption. It's inevitable.

Much similar to what Patrick Moore of greanpeace stated. I posted an article about it on here last year with a link. Depending how John v's memory is holding up today, he might recall reading it, as he commented after doing so.

It's strange how the old Arnie films look like turning into reality.
Terminator and Total Recall come to mind.
The super wealthy will withdraw to Mars and destroy the remaining inhabitants of earth then they will come back and re-colonise the planet.
Loads of money can buy you out of this planet eventually.
It's a good planet but it needs a proper shakeup and mass destruction of the parasitic human race.
Once that's out the way the people who come back will have much more space, no need for money and exchange systems they can just live on food and water.
Back to nature maaan

I look at both arguments, which consequently gives me a differing opinion to yours.

All the glitterati scream about how good they are (buying massive ridiculously fast all electric cars ..... that have consumed more in their manufacture and produced more pollution than the average Joe's little diesel banger will contribute during it's total life) So far I have yet to hear anybody giving a sensible route by which the human contribution to (yes, I do agree) an already existing trend of warming can be reduced. Yet again nobody seems to willing to face the elephant in the room ...... which is that the human population level is way, way, too high. Even if people think of a solution, nobody will mention it, as it would be instant political suicide.

I agree John we are the problem maybe if a high profile first world country went under the seas it would help? 100 million dead, that would concentrate peoples mind on global warming
