This is the thing about the Chinese - they're really into spitting. I remember reading in Paul Theroux's book 'Riding the Iron Rooster', in which he spent a year travelling by trains in China, that the Chinese were the last nation to still make metal spitoons. I read that some Chinese are collecting used face masks from hospital bins and repackaging them for sale. Not beyond belief once you've read about conditions in Chinese prisons and what the inmates have to do to survive, according to Heinrich Harrer (the German on whose exploits the movie Seven Years in Tibet was based): However, Finns are also a people who love to spit - the bus and railway stations and streets in Helsinki are covered in green phlegm: "Oh my god! That was one of the very few things that shocked me the most about life in Finland! Pissing in the street and spitting.. a lot of spitting. Many years so far and I still haven't gotten used to seeing it, though." "I have lived in several countries but have never heard teenagers behaving as rudely as in Finland, cursing older people, spitting at the bus stop, or lying drunk at age 15 in the street on Saturday nights."

I saw a notice in a launderette which said "No spitting in the bin".
Presumably it was ok to spit everywhere else just specifically not in the bin itself.

I do enjoy a good cough, hawk and spit. Developed accuracy as a 12 Yr old. The trick is to roll your tongue. That in itself is a genetic trait, not everyone is capable. AFAIK.

Last time I was in Hong Kong there was no spitting allowed, you could be arrested and jailed. The HK authorities stopped it because of the bird flu outbreak, they had teams of street scrubbers with bleach everywhere. It was then a really pleasant place to live.

You'll see the bbcode option along the top of the compose box if you are using a puter not a mobile. Then you'll see is laid out as when you view it on a mobile. Then move your cursor - the little stick that shows you where the text would be placed. Jeez, young uns these days kno nowt.

You two will sleep soundly in your beds tonight, having righted such heinous wrongs.
None of us had ANY idea what was being said until your interventions.
Is there a Nobel Prize for pedantry ?
