"The Beijing Dumpling restaurant, close to Leicester Square, usually has queues of diners waiting to get in for lunch and dinner. “Nobody is interested in Chinese food at the moment or visiting Chinatown. People seem to think that if you come here to eat, then you’ll catch the virus. It’s racist and it’s pathetic,” said a waiter." Yeah - not wanting to catch the coronavirus is 'racist', I agree. Bars and restaurants will have to make sure patrons keep at least a meter apart or they’ll be shut. The draft specifies that failing to respect the measures is a criminal offense, and might lead to imprisonment. Police and the army will be responsible for ensuring that containment measures are respected." there will be a loud-mouthed corporal, usually called Adolf, allocated to every bar in the city. He will be equipped with a yardstick to demonstrate acceptable separation distances, and will have the power to severely chastise the owner of any establishment where customers are observed doing the European cheek kiss, shaking hands or passing a drink to their friend. Any couples caught canoodling will be put in the stocks. Owners of offending establishments will have the option of buying Adolf a drink or crossing his palm with silver to avoid summary closure.

I suppose the logic would be that Chinese food is cooked by Chinese people who may be statistically more likely to have the virus than, say, Bangladeshis. No Corona virus here, I had a nice toasted fish finger and melted cheddar cheese sandwich for breakfast, totally uncontaminated by any disease harbouring Chinks.

We've been here many times before and at the root of it is money. Manipulation of stocks and shares. Even eggs were thrown at the gullible public in the past. The good news is that most people seem to be adhering to the 'Keep Calm and Carry On' principle. Eventually the masses will become desensitized to this kind of manipulation and ignore those spreading it. I hope Trump and Boris understand this BTW we are all capable of finding our own source of propaganda if we so choose Foxy.

The first rumours were that is was from the Chinese eating bat soup. So.... yes. And it's probably not the food as such but those Chinese have been back and forth between China and London, bringing in their dried meats, so it's the Chinese themselves people wish to avoid contact with. Oxford University now has a 'case' from abroad but refuse to say exactly where from - probably because the university doesn't want to stop the flow of money from China into their coffers. "reminds me of a certain infamous gentleman who posts incessantly on the Dark Side. Are you his CWDF glove puppet?" - I saw that.

on the subject of the gentlemen from Chinatown - I very much doubt if any of them want to visit the country they managed to escape from years ago.
fact is you don't want to eat crispy fried duck because the Wuhan population have a taste for bat soup. actually it's marginally nicer than bird's nest soup that is made from the spit of swallows.

For those who think it is all a storm in a teacup...
'The health care system in the Italian region of Lombardy is on the brink of collapse, the head of its crisis response unit has said.
"We're now being forced to set up intensive care treatment in corridors, in operating theatres, in recovery rooms. We've emptied entire hospital sections to make space for seriously sick people," Antonio Pesenti told the Corriere della Sera newspaper.
"One of the best health systems in the world, in Lombardy, is a step away from collapse," he said.'

Yes, of course! Oh no, I've been twigged! The shame!

They don't seem to have integrated into the 'British' culture very much, I mean they are not dishing up pie & chips with mushy peas in Soho, are they?
