Must admit I'm wondering if there is something I can do to help the effort. Chris already is...as my carer (she is qualified being a primary school teacher most of her life). co-operate.coop.co.uk/support Thanks for that, I'll take a look. We're in the middle of nowhere but I have thought about asking the local farmer...thinking is much easier though. If I see him I'll ask. Chris says after 37 years at the same school, she's had enough! Just been blacking over scrapes on one side of the boat today. We'll do the other side another day.

You can offer online support too for others who might also be self isolating.

Our tip is closed not because they are short staffed but because the council have deemed that visiting the tip involves non essential travel. They do have a point.

I wonder if there will be a little bit more fly tipping than usual.

Yawn. We need to cut down on possibilities for viral transfer. Do keep up. No we don't. We need to get it over and done with as quickly as possible, a bit like you may remember being sent to measles and mumps parties as a child. 563 died yesterday, by Sunday it will be nearer a thousand per day (and increasing) at what level of daily deaths will you be prepared to admit that this is serious. Two thousand? Three thousand??.

If the experts are to be believed there is a reasonably predictable pattern to this type of epidemic.
It moves through like a wave.
How high the wave is does seem to depend on the way that people behave in terms of social distancing and minimising potential transmission.
2000 deaths a day in this country seems improbable according to the modeling.
As an armchair expert I'm sticking with the 9,000 deaths which should mean the numbers start dropping off this weekend.
And yes I am practising social distancing big time.

That I'd be interested in, Ive suffered chronic tinnitus for most of my life, (the high pitch tone one!) and although of necessity I've learnt how to deal with it I'd appreciate any web page you can direct me to that might offer help in a different manner.

I've also suffered, after playing rototoms in a pub a good few years back. High pitched. The hearing aids seem to help, they boost the high notes, tweety birds etc. Maybe there's a connection there.

The "underlying health conditions" is the key isn't it.
There will be vast numbers of people who do actually have "underlying health conditions" but never been to a doctor so it is not on record.
Things which most people can deal with on a day to day basis might, if subjected to investigation by a quack, end up being logged as a "health condition".
There are plenty of people, myself included, who do not go to the doctor at all regularly.
Last time I saw the quack must have been about 2 years ago or more.
In the meantime I could easily have acquired a "health condition" such as heart failure but as it has not been put on paper as of today I'm perfectly healthy.

Tried that, they boost the high note in my head and the extra volume of the world adds to the cacophony of the tinnitus. Nightmare stuff, so now I irritate everybody with a constant "Pardon?"

Two thousand? Three thousand??. What if over half the population get this virus this year? If the government did more RANDOM testing, we'd have a better idea as to how many have had it already. As they only seem to test those who have been submitted to hospital or are at high risk, it's impossible to get sensible statistics. Suppose this virus spreads to over half of the population then we will reach a point where over half of those who would normally have died each day (over 750 out of 1500) will be tested as having C19 in their system. As has always been the problem with the way the data has been collected, we don't know whether C19 was the main cause of death or not. Annoyingly it seems the media are treating every death, where C19 is detected by tests, as death by C19. The above is only a theory and it may turn out this virus is very serious. If it is then why on earth are we still letting passengers planes fly in and out of the country, why are we stuffing tube trains full of people etc.
