Envy you, John. You'll certainly enjoy the East Anglian waterways - I've been back 3 times in the 10 years since I bought my present boat. But Foxy and I are trapped in a 12 mile stretch of the C&H and Rochdale until at least late June!

Thats right John so is Loafer loafer or is he an imposter de de der clearly loafer has toooo much merlot this evening and cannot remember the unstable bar jaunt I remember the usb jaunt very well, Peter, and it was great fun! Sorry for the delay in replying, but I have lost a little interest lately. I'm not bothered too much with CWDF, except for spotting electrickery errors, and I doubt I'll post here much either, largely due to the presence of a couple of people who annoy me a bit. Give my best wishes to my imaginary friends, although I plan to get round to that myself!

I One thing I've just thought about is this - a couple of months ago we had the 'warning letter' from CRT (right hand not knowing what left is doing in this case) - now, as they are aware that our boat is there, as are a few others on the 12-mile stretch, why haven't CRT contacted us PERSONALLY to say they're sorry and here's some licence money back for your inconvenience? Or, at least, to keep us personally up to date? I find the information about what's happening vague at best (yes, yes, I have looked at their closure notices, etc.). [ This is exactly the kind of thing Crt do, they'll be trying to confiscate your boat next. You should have got it craned out with shire cruisers you would have been on the summit pound of the L@L you'd love it up here. Regards kris

Actually another boater did suggest this, that we have it shifted along with Shire Cruisers' fleet (I was told just 3 boats of theirs left in Sowerby Bridge) but we decided to hang on and not panic. Maybe have to pay you a visit if you're on the L&L as we'll be visiting relations in Baildon & in Brierfield!
This is going to be a slightly different Summer holiday as to what we had in mind. I had already made an alternative (doing the Shroppie) but that's off the menu also if there's no escape eastwards.
We actually like Sowerby Bridge and the surrounding area, most people in West Yorkshire seem genuinely friendly. Shire Cruisers seems like a professional outfit, and I think I would recommend them to prospective hirers.
If I had another life, I wouldn't mind living in the Pennines. London? Hahaha, yeah, right. No thanks.

Just an up date. ......My poor little Ormelite cruiser has been swinging round a buoy in the creek for about 3 weeks now waiting to be put on a trailer.
(and I said hopefully just a couple of days Hah ! )
Finally today she was pulled up the slip and she is now in the carpark. I'll get the bottom scrubbed off over the weekend and some new anodes fitted in case (miracle though it would be) she gets delivered up to the Lark straight away. Overall the paintwork doesn't look too bad considering it's nearly 4 years old and has the Soar and the GU and tidal Thames (plus a few short jaunts locally on salt water) Some of the woodwork is dry and tired but I think with a good wash down she'll do another season before a full repaint.
I am going to have to keep being a parrot on the guys shoulder to make sure I get moved quickly but it does mean I have to be on my toes so that I am ready in case he moves quickly

So then John, are we to have your presence on the Great Ouse this summer?
We had our first shakedown cruise this week. No nasty surprises, but in typical boat fashion another £100 has gone West in the never ending quest for a finished article (it will never happen I know - but Mrs Gazza seems to think it will....)
Couple more weekends and before you know it we will be off for the flatlands of PhilShire

I'm aiming for somewhere near Haughton Lock, for a maximum permittable stay, whilst I visit an old RAF buddy and take them boating.

Couple more weekends and before you know it we will be off for the flatlands of PhilShire Definitely !! It is a few weeks later than intended but I am looking forward to exploring. There looks to be plenty of quiet byways for an old codger to wander around for a few weeks, before heading upstream for more energetic boating. Hopefully I will meet some of you over the summer. The way this year has gone so far, I suspect I wont be travelling too far over the next 3 months or so, it certainly won't be a long season for me, before looking for a place to store for the winter (possibly ashore). I need some time in the autumn to get some fettling done on Sabina H, as I have an ambition for her to be on the move very early next year. (She is well overdue a drydocking). Although she is all there, lots of things need attention before she is fit for a sea passage (even a cautious winter one) plus I have upgraded bridge electronics, including a radar, that need installing. cheers John
