Tory MPs have followed Kier's lead in kicking the NHS payment for migrant staff into touch. Boris has capitulated rather quickly, perhaps it will become a habit. I bet he kept shtum about his grasping plans when he was being cared for by the New Zealander.

The Tories always have been ... and yet easily won the GE, which indicates the depths to which Momentum has dragged the Labour party down don't you think. But still a good news story. Rog

I haven't followed this, but why is that New Zealander in the UK? If he/she was educated in NZ, have they repaid the government for taking the education away from NZ and using it in another country? Are they in the UK because they married a Brit? Did they enter legally? I know many Australians have married falsely so that they can stay in the UK - sham marriages. Have you refunded the UK for the costs of your education, NHS care, whatever you needed while you were sprouting? I'm sure you'll have a spreadsheet somewhere. Having married Pirrko do you qualify as a Finn as well as remaining an EU citizen.

Why is it always good news when the government gives money that it doesn't have away? It's OUR money, the government just controls where the money goes which we have all given in tax.

From my experience, its the ones who pay the least in, squawk and moan the loudest! (This isn't an attack on you BTW!)

Yes, when I say 'OUR' I mean everyone in the country but obviously to differing degrees. Some on low incomes will avoid paying tax by living on cash and not declaring. Some on high incomes avoid paying tax by shifting their money to off shore accounts. The former is usually seen by the law as illegal, whereas the latter is made legal by creative accounting. Don't forget VAT at 20% and super tax on things like alcohol, fuel and fags. Most of us pay a lot of tax through that. I wonder how many 'key workers' are on low incomes and on zero hour contracts? Do they complain as much as Mr Branson? The monetary system does have it's flaws but we're stuck with it. It's a good job most of us are honest really.

More than 50% of the country receive more tax money than they pay in, legally, without doing any cash jobs.

How could 'robber Baron' rents be paid without this benefit ?
As the Irish man said when asked for directions "You don't want to start from here".
If society was arranged that everyone received appropriate reward, a home, education, health service, and everyone's efforts were focussed back towards the society we are part of, life would be better, and we would all be active in caring for our fellow man.
Instead we witness the obscenity of homelessness alongside 20 year old multi millionaire footballers.
The reality is we live in a capitalist society geared towards the rich getting richer and sod everyone else ... and we all over time have to find our own ways of handling the fact.

Rog All fine and dandy but when the experiment you suggest was tried in the U.S.S.R it failed rather miserably. Cuba is another example. They have decent education there, but it's not a place I'd aspire to live in.

As I said ... the world isn't like that and we all have to learn how to deal with the reality. And to compare USSR 's corrupt and vicious regime to my 'dream society' suggests you need to read more Rog
