I bought something described as heat resistant silicone it was in a tube but in fact is was bog standard fire cement. There are some silicones which can deal with a certain amount of heat but the definitely have limits. they?

If you are talking about the radiant rather than the burner, then open up a couple of the grids and drill a small hole above each opening in the top casing, and use a self tapper and a washer to secure the radiant.
