Today was our 40th anniversary and I had booked a table at our local hostelry for Sunday lunch. Now the place is generally heaving on a week end and in light of the upcoming rule of 6 I expected it to be chock a block. Wrong!! there were 3 people the bar and a couple of dozen outside under awnings. So no mad dash to get tanked up prior to the rule of 6, we were both startled to find there was just us two plus a table of 4 with a child. How the hell he has been keeping going is amazing. Anyway we had a lovely roast beef dinneŕ with sticky toffee puddinģ and custard so all in all a lovely day Phil

Happy anniversary.
We've found eating out quite good under the current regime ... no more crammed in tables ... table service for drinks as well ... and the kitchen staff and waiting on staff seem under slightly less pressue.

A lovely day indeed. Nice and bright but not overly humid and a nice breeze blowing through the boat. Kayaked to the locks south of here and back this morning, walked beyond them just now. The canal is a bit featureless but it's lovely and quiet south of Nantwich. Also took the opportunity to move away from the engine runner. He had an unusual regime; run engine for 2 hours, off for an hour, then run another 2 hours, throughout the day. Probably well into the night as well. Anyway, lovely and peaceful 100 yards away.
