That would also mean I could remove the deck plates to the river bank and clean /paint them off the boat. They are designed to be lifted out of the boat by one or other of the Derrick cranes fitted to the radar arch. It was made to be taken apart so I guess I should really do that at some point. During nice weather, and do the job properly. Yes, you should do it properly. You've got time to do it.

It's reaching fever pitch.
That is fine, of coarse.

What's the average lifetime of one? Early days yet, so far I've used them for knocking back some flaky antifouling, carefully buzzing back gelcoat for some glass patch work. I've knocked on offf a fair bit of rust and paint from an old trailer that I welded up into frames to hang 1 ton aggregate bags from. Still on the first one with plenty of life in it!

I was hoping to gloss over the fact that I will never do this job properly.
I was under the deck earlier on admiring all the detail of the boat and I was like "this thing should be in an art gallery" its bloody amazing.

One off the offshore support vessel companies I worked for used Jotun paint products. I was especially impressed with the Jotamastic paints that are surface tolerant. These paints stood up very well on low decks that were almost constantly awash or getting bashed by cargo being loaded & discharged whilst at sea.

Most of the boat was painted mainly with Jotun's vinyguard silvergrey before I bought it. And there are a couple of full 5L tins on board for when I get to actually do some painting. I'll have a look at the Jotamastic that you refer to.
