I would and I did.
I told them that I had done it previously and damaged my alternator. They will be able to look this up and find out that I was not bullshitting.
I definitely will not be putting Agnès through this sort of torment.

I've seen more than one instance where a jump start had a negative effect on the tricksy electronics of the 'donor' car. Frankly I'd refuse. That is avoided by connecting the negative lead to the engine block or bodywork of the car being jumped, NOT the negative battery terminal.
