That looks like a wrap. Now you have got your feet wet bobfleming , are you staying for a paddle and a splash about? Do you have a money swallowing hole in a canal somewhere?

Not yet - but that's the plan, hence my lurking here and my in-depth acquaintance with Apollo Duck. Not ready to buy just yet, still working on funding it - but getting there.
Gonna have to get my head around how to use this, so bear with me if any of my posts end up in the wrong place.

I'm half sure that boat was the one I saw coming down the 9 on Monday... makes sense I suppose, down the peak, ashton and then rochdale 9... wonder where it was heading.

This should be easy, but searching for images hasn't yielded anything so far. Some time back I saw a narrowboat featured in a video/vlog/news item (memory failing, you are correct) which had a lifelike mural painted on its sides. The mural depicted a natural scene along canals - kingfishers, herons, hedgerows, trees, butterflies. Can someone point me to where I can find more about this and find out who paints such wonderful artwork? Hello there, try Google and Jim McCarthy narrowboat mural.

Yep, 5 or 6 months I guess. I feel like I know some of you! That boat has been on the market for quite a while now and was reduced to sell in December. It looks half decent internally and I was quite taken by it - apart from the artwork! I think it's fantastic, but not for me - its not really suited to stealth cruising. - And I couldn't bring myself to paint over it! Now.... have I managed to quote Quaysider AND reply at the same time? ...

Well hello, Mr or Ms armchair. No, I'm fresh and dripping new on the forum, honest! My profile photo matches my name. Chandratal (moon lake) is a high-altitude lake in the Himalaya

That's the one, bobfleming! Since I have about 5 hours' posting seniority to you, think that allows me to extend you a welcome along with the other members. Friendly bunch here, I have to say.

Might not have been you though, it is a popular area.

You're right, but it's just Spiti, otherwise it would be like saying "from the Yorkshire area". It's my own photo. Have you been there (Spiti, not Yorkshire)?

No not been there, just recognised the name and a quick google showed me I was correct with the photo. The lake is a protected wetland habitat, which is unusual in the otherwise barren dryness of Spiti. I found out just how wet it gets when I camped there as part of a longer trek. Considering getting a painting of the lake on the side of my boat, my reason for this question in the first place.
