My centre line has frayed not far from the looped end, seems a waste to bin it, is it easy to splice it back into a loop, think that's the correct term!

Tape the ends of the strands. Hardest bit is getting the first one right. Then it's simple weaving really, over one strand, under the next, one tuck on each strand at a time. Animated Knots app by Grog on Android. A splice in the length of a rope, if it frays or snaps, is easy. Try that on a bit of spare rope first, then an eye splice. An end splice to finish off the far end too, while you are at it. Those 3 are all you need.

A cut splice is another option. They had to remove a letter from the original word as it is now deemed too rude to publish.

Bugger off and practice granny knots in blue string, for parking your boat. Proper Boaters at Work!
