Surely one should be more concerned about the fact that The aliens are eating our brains from the inside and we are too thick to realise it.
When it's too late it's too late.

"Massive Chinese rocket circling the planet is uncontrolled and could fall to Earth somewhere. China launched the first module of its new space station on April 28. The rocket that launched the module is now circling the planet, uncontrolled, and could re-enter Earth's atmosphere in the next few days." Whose house will it drop on? Will the Chinese pay for the damage? (Answer: No.) Can you go and start your own Forum somewhere..

Looks like Finland will be open for travel to the UK in the next few weeks, you coming over in the summer Foxy? It hasn't stopped 'being open'. Summer plans to be thought about next week! But it does look like the 'old England' has gone with the pubs being wiped out, which were a big part of our holidays. Sitting in the cold in a 'pub garden or yard' and being served by a barmaid in a visor or face mask, and having to give your details for 'Track and Trace' (operated by Serco - an American corporation), doesn't really appeal. I think we have see the best days. I'm sure people will still be wearing face masks by Summer 2022... and Summer 2023... the 'Dystopian Future' has indeed arrived - you can deny it all you like, but look around you. It does seem that the 'Conspiracy Theorists'' predictions have come true. It's all rather sad, but, hey, let's all sing 'Happy Birthday' whilst washing our hands and be positive! Pubs are still here and will be open for inside in the near future and hopefully all restrictions being lifted will follow - you paint a bleak picture that just isn't true of life in the UK.
PS how much you selling your boat for?

I'm wondering whether all the restrictions and new procedures pubs now have to follow have forced their prices up yet. Anyone noticed?

Yes the prices have gone up, i would put most of that increase though on lost revenue for the ytd.

"Hopefully all restrictions being lifted will follow". Not going to happen - companies are already investing in 'smart face masks'. You can't drink or eat in a pub wearing a mask, the only time you might need to wear one is going shopping - if you can't cope with that then sell the boat cheaply to me.

The were decreasing in numbers even before the breathaliser was introduced and have been facing a steeper and steeper uphill struggle ever since.
Easier licencing for corner shops and the relaxation of Sunday trading laws have all added to the contraction of the trade.
The old village pubs that I used enjoy so much in my youth have virtually become extinct or have become sort of poncey places where you get a choice of wines and "ping" cordon bleuhhh meals and have never heard of dark mild.
With the huge cost difference between canned supermarket ales and a proper pint, it's not really surprising ........ forget Foxes malarky about Covid

Hardly, 10% on a pint is only 25p to 30p, less than two quid for a night out. if yu cant afford that increase, you really shouldn't be in the pub spending money to start with.

Don't forget the smoking ban, that didn't help either.

There is still plenty of pubs although numbers have massively reduced over the years. I'm a pub fan ... drinking at home's just taking on alcohol ... I like the vibe and social aspect of pubs and will be glad to see the restrictions further diminish on the 17th Rog ETA On our boozy afternoon in a pub beer garden with a friend last week it was £3.70 a pint

Which still isn't a bad price, you get to sit down in the warm with some music on for an hour for £3.70.
