Many more cyclists using the road and because there was less traffic more drivers were speeding and driving dangerously?

It’s Darwinism at work - every day on my drive to work I pass a pair of cyclists; one muppet cycling along a dodgy bit of B road, his oppo using the shared use cycle path in complete safety. one day muppet is going to become traction and have at the very least some impressive bruises.

I see this everytime I drive to the drydock. A busy, fairly narrow main road (all either 30 or 40 limit) with a shared cycle path all the way along it's length and tossers cycling on the carriageway when there is no bugger on the path. They are introducing more and more cycle lanes (for the muppets to ignore coz it's their ooman rites) I think there should be penalties for failing to use cycle ways when they are there (apart from the bruises/risk of death)

The problem is stupid car drivers not taking care. There's a roadworks near me with traffic control, about 200m. Sign at the lights,"cyclists dismount and walk down the pavement" instead of "drivers Take care, Cyclists about". It has no legal standing, I cycle through, from the lights I'm halfway through before the cars are in gear!

When there is a safe route provided for cyclist along a 4 mile section of narrow busy road and they ignore it so that heavy lorries with trailers have to crawl behind them just coz they have a tosser that won't use the cycle path.
No !!! if sectioned off cycle paths are made restricting the carriageway then cyclists should be forbidden from using sections of road where there is one. Just as they are forbidden from using motorways
and anyone who thinks otherwise is a lycra lunatic or a total tosser

Unfortunately most of these cycle lanes are just pavements designed for pedestrians with a bit of white paint. There are blind access to driveways, signs, bus stops millions of side roads all being a danger to cyclists and other users. You shouldn't cycle above 15 mph on a pavement so that rules put many cyclists. We should be more tolerant of all road users. No car driver has any more right to be on the road than a cyclist. Cyclists gets shouted at for cycling on the pavement because its a danger to pedestrians, council stick shared use sign up and now they get shouted to get on the pavements. How is it any safer for the pedestrians. Shared use paths are for children or the unconfident. A cyclist riding at 30 mph should never be on a shared use path. Just let them be add a few seconds to your journey and let everyone get home safe. P.s I know there are some fantastic segregated cycle lanes which are amazing and of someone chooses to ignore it they probably have an entitlement issue.

In Hull they are spending a fortune on new cyclepaths and often the new ones are coned off with "pin" cones from the rest of the carriageway
they reduce the width of the "motorists" bit of the road .... not pavements !!! (and still the tossers ride on the road bit)
There is quite a row going on about it on local radio ..... it doesn't help that Hull has a massive traffic problem anyway. Every route East to West in Hull has a lift or swing bridge, as a result, depending on tides and river traffic, things can get a bit fraught
Incidentally on the route I am talking about if they were doing 30mph it wouldn't be a problem as a lot of the road is 30mph but many of them are not !!!
It's a bugger of a road as regards traffic with a lot of lorries some with trailers and in the mornings it can be a nightmare, just one inconsiderate cyclist can jam the whole route up

I think we have done this before - the bit of road I’m on about had a death on it a few years ago - while the car driver was found guilty of causing the cyclists death, the cyclist wouldn’t have been dead if they were on the cycle path. When I first had my motorbike at 16 years old both mouse and his mate Captain Birdseye gave me some sage advice - it’s no use being Dead, Right? being in the right but 6’ under is the ultimate way of making a pointless point!
