So because I have an independent view not aligned to your world vision I am blinkered You are blinkered because you form an opinion and pronounce upon it without even watching the evidence.
That is not an independent view, that is ignorance
Seizing on the first bit of honeyed rhetoric and touting it as gospel while sneering at any disagreement is even more so. When it comes to assuming a political stance, Mr Aitken is a seasoned professional.

I didn’t watch the programme. I think in general the Beeb’s overage of news is even handed and political bias is fairly neutral. In terms of their ability to recognise their own failings and deal with them promptly, openly, honestly and fairly they are as woeful as most other large organisations. Protecting their image is top priority. Did I miss anything? Yep, that the beeb is mostly lefty.

I disagree with your assessment and propose that if you think the Beeb is too lefty, it is because your politics is somewhere to the right of Genghis Khan.

(worldwide not local) although Christians are now the most persecuted religion world wide.
Their buying into the BLM thing without any research into it's background The full scale adoption of a "woke" agenda without any editorial comment as regards the differences UK to USA
You probably would enjoy the program Nick, it is inteligent, well made and interesting. it is certainly worth the watch

Thanks for posting that John. It more or less ties in with my own observations over the years and gives interesting theories as to why their bias exists, theories I haven't considered before.

A better description might be modern day metropolitan middle class dominated social democratic. A political view dominated by the highly arrogant: 'We are decent people, the goodness and light of the world. Anyone who holds any other view is indecent'

They are confident in their views. You seem confident in your views, does that make you highly arrogant too?

I've seen plenty of unbiassed discussion about such subjects as BLM such as should sportsmen "take the knee" or not. There are aguments on both sides, and both sides have been aired on the beeb, I haven't noticed any particular bias either way. Yes things (non-news) are getting a bit too woke for me, Dr Who with Jodi was the worst example but Eastenders can come a close second at times.
If I have a complaint about BBC news is that it does tend to focus on a very limited selection of world events. I would prefer a broader brush rather than constant repeats of the same very few stories.

My political view doesn't come from one particular political box. I take a bit from this box, and a bit from that. I don't know if that makes me highly arrogant, that would be for others to decide.

It's strange how you can post something and expect a caertain reaction and then Thunderboat being Thundertboat something totally different happens !!! ' I posted what I thought was a well made short documentary about the BBC failing to live up to it's proudly claimed impartiality. Obviously because it actually exists there had to be a certain anti BBC bias, but the points it made were, I thought, well made, they were also presented in generally a thoughtful serious manner. Many of the points made were I thought fair
(I must confess I tended to agree with some of the beeb that Trump is a loon but that still doesn't mean that they should not report impartialy).
I expected debate and people pulling the program apart and disagreeing with it.
Oddly though ...... I thought they would actually watch it first before having a go ....... Ah well

(I must confess I tended to agree with some of the beeb that Trump is a loon but that still doesn't mean that they should not report impartialy). this raises a relevant issue. Should the BBC give fair airtime (“oxygen”) to nutters like Trump, conspiracy theorists, anti-vaxxers, preppers, religious extremists, the gun lobby, anti 5G etc? Of which there seem to be an increasing number these days. And the number is increasing because these views are more readily accessible. Or should the BBC take the view that “these people / views etc are insane and dangerous and should not be given airtime”. It is a kind of censorship, and the BBC are deciding what is insane and what is reasonable. Which could be seen as quite arrogant. But I for one am glad they do it.

Cheers John. it proves that the Beeb is looking after utself as always for me, the quicker the license fee is removed the better, it might then think about what its doing rather than being protected by a big wedge of money unevenly distributed amongst its hierarchy

However, given that the BBC sided with Black Lives Matter, a dangerous organisation if there ever were one, without a proper critique of its political aims, it would quite wrong to dismiss a U.S. president, democratically elected, portraying him as a lunatic, without some balance as to his political aims. Still, that's what the BBC did.
