Ah well !!! decided to have a go at that jigsaw .... rapidly discovered why it had been put away and forgotten for so many years !!!
the baize mat is about 4 foot by 3 foot ..... my only table is my breakfast bar which is a 4 foot diameter circle on a short (1 foot) stub end...... put the baise on it and that is the majority of my surface area gone ... on top of that of course you then need space for trays or boxes for the various types/colours pieces ..... bloody nightmare.
With one as complex as this it will take days to do and the thought of having to pack it away each time .... with two of us living on board at the time I can now understand why we conveniently forgot it.
The only way I can see to do it is to rig some sort of temporary table in the forward cabin and leave it set up all the time after all the only time it will ever get used is when I have visitors .... so once in a blue moon.

Have to admit, if a jigsaw can't be done in a day it doesn't get done. About 500 pieces is my max. Used to have one of those mat thingies but never got around to using it even when I had much more space.

I've been working on a fiendishly difficult jigsaw puzzle for the last three weeks and I've nearly finished it.

I really object to "the wheels on the bus go round and round, all day long".
What we are looking at here is misinformation directed at children. The wheels on the bus do NOT go round and round all day long. It is a bus and the fundamental function of a bus is to move for a bit then stop. The only way to keep the wheels moving while stopped would be to have some sort of jacking system elevating the vehicle.
It doesn't happen.
The sooner this sort of misinformation is taken out of circulation the better.
