As Dogless posted this: "good luck on your retirement adventures and don't forget to post some photos please." , I thought I'd slap my photos up. This wasn't a trip for taking photos, so it's just random stuff.
Bus from our village to Kokkola, train to Tikkurila (Helsinki) and local train to the airport, overnight there in a nice, quiet area I know of - no-one else ever goes down there, and our 'own toilets'. 0800 Finnair to Heathrow, 5 minutes to get through the Passport machines, then a half-hour before luggage started coming through. The pre-paid ticket machines worked for a change with my bank card so we got all four sets (two sets for out: Heathrow to Hayes & Harlington, Hayes & Harlington to Droitwich Spa - two sets for return same route). Quite a good little trick, that, not having to go into the centre of London.
First touristy thing was the Church of the Sacred Heart and St Catherine of Alexandria, in Droitwich Spa, where the walls have been decorated in mosaic:

My sister had insisted on lending us her car (a Mini (BMW)) instead of us renting one and we drove to visit relatives in Norfolk via Market Harborough to collect some of our boat papers from the broker (tidying up loose ends). Very nice scenic road the B664 between M.Harborough & Uppingham, and we stopped for lunch just east of Outwell beside the Welland Creek where it crosses the Middle Level Main Drain on an aqueduct - if it had not been for the fake 'pandemic' of 'Covid' (it's a cold, if anything) we'd have been chugging over that aqueduct in June 2021. A day in Diss, and then across Suffolk & Essex, stopping in Finchingfield:
Finchingfield
To Ongar and onto the M11-M25-M40 to 'make the jump' into the Chilterns and overnight in a village pub B&B, and the following morning across the Thames at Goring and to Newbury to collect the last of our boat paperwork and past the Uffington White Horse to Highworth where there's a whisky shop that sells real whiskies, none of this rubbish you find in supermarkets - Mannochmore and Glen Keith for me (one bottle per person customs limit now that the UK has left the EU).
Then a drive round the southern edge of the Malvern Hills to Ledbury and back via the very seep hill of Martley (east of the River Teme) and back across the Severn, and then a 3-day trip to Ledbury, Hereford, across the Brecon Beacons and back over again, stopping the next day in Crickhowell, Abergavenny, Monmouth and Ross-on-Wye:
I found this Miserable Peter Rabbit amusing.
to be continued....
