figure of speech noun a word or phrase used in a non-literal sense for rhetorical or vivid effect.
I've explained a million times.

And if you start talking about it within earshot I'll put my fingers in my ears and say 'la la la' in a loud voice until you stop. Ah the old “I’m not homophobic, I don’t have a problem with the gays as long as they are not visible and don’t mention it” line. Other ones you can use are “I am not a misogynist, I don’t have a problem with women as long as they stay in the kitchen and only speak when spoken to”. and “I am not racist, I have no problem with the blacks provided they don’t move into my street”. To you, the physical act isn't repellent. But I'd lay a heavy bet most hetero men would find it so. That's all. Get a room.

Is it only me here, that gets cheesed off with almost every topic ending up in an argument about homosexuality? So is it you view that when people post homophobic remarks, I should just let it go unchallenged? Yeh I think it is. Seems obvious to me that those that wind you up about it are doing so deliberately to get you to bite. Either that or they really are homophobic and as such should be either ignored or pitied.

This despite the fact that heterosexual anal sex is quite common, I’m told. It is pure bigotry plain and simple.

I see Coutts have accepted they were wrong and apologised. Not likely Jim will 😁 Rog Not a chance, I won't apologise for my view of Farage or what should happen to him. I might reconsider if he apologised to the country first. Ooh, a pig has just flown by the patio window! What does he have to apologise for? There are as many significant people who have stated brexit was not a bad thing as there are naysayers who are doing there best to convince us that it is armageddon.

Well we’ll have to disagree then. I take the view that silence is tacit acceptance and I can’t go along with that. I strongly suspect that neither would you if you chanced to have been born into one of the groups often subject to such abuse and prejudice. I realise that your earlier post didn’t target me specifically but perhaps your energies would be better directed at those posting homophobic material. If the general vibe of this forum was un-accepting of such things, people wouldn’t post them. But as it is, they are emboldened by the absence of any reaction from anyone except me.

Wont be the first, nor last time we disagree. To be clear on this subject, I dislike homophobia intensely and honestly can’t understand why anyone holds such views.

It must be quite cool to have a partner who knows how to handle a willy properly on account of having their own one. I'm sure there is an amount of humour in the gay topic but then sadly there are those who do think it is 'wrong'. I never quite understood why a straight bloke would find queers a problem. If you think about it literally this means there are two males who are not competing with you for the females. I could see how the ladies might object but gentlemen it doesn't make sense. More gay men = more available women. I suppose the dyke issue could put a spanner in the works of this theory.

It seems to be Nicks main topic of conversation. I suppose he misses how it used to shock people in the old days. You really are a fuckwit sometimes. This thread, about a guy caught out being gay whilst having a straight public persona was started by YOU, not me. Yes YOU started a thread about a gay bloke not me. Now YOU are accusing me of always talking about homosexuality. Are you just incredibly stupid or is it deliberate? Or maybe your line is that anyone can talk endlessly about homosexuality in a negative way, but anyone defending is “always banging on about it”. Now kindly fuck off, you nasty homophobic twat. which thread was this dear? Don’t get your knickers in a twist. As for being a fuckwit why thankyou it’s the nicest thing anyone has said to me for awhile. ps I’ve worked out your talking about this thread. Get your facts straight before accusing me of anything. Pulcinella started this thread then deleted his initial post. So would you like to apologise?

I expect you'd argue that homosexuality isn't a choice, that you were born that way, etc. Does it seem to you that hetero people feel any differently? For the avoidance of doubt, I wouldn't dispute the point.

This thread was not started by me and yet you accuse me of always wanting to talk about homosexuality. Whether it was started by you or someone else is not particularly important. If you want to accuse someone of always turning the conversation around to homosexuality then I suggest you direct you accusations to the people who made the original homophobic comments.

I'm sure there is an amount of humour in the gay topic but then sadly there are those who do think it is 'wrong'. I don't much care for Angel Delight either but I am aware other people are quite fond of it. I wouldn't find being in a room where it was being consumed to be a problem or even being in earshot of a conversation where the various ways in which it can be enjoyed are being discussed to be uncomfortable. Maybe it's not a helpful comparison.
