Couple of things jumped out of the latest update. Richard parry is attending the fund our waterways demo/ rally this weekend in Birmingham. I wonder if he is getting paid or claiming exspenses? The other thing that I noticed is in the updated towpath code, please take your litter home ( because we’ve removed all the bins.)

Do you regularly work for free on a Saturday Kris? If you carry your packaging to the towpath, then what is the problem with carrying it home again?

Why? Because I do not share your views? Why do you choose to live on a boat when you find virtually everything about the lifestyle offensive? You really should start a thread named Kris’s Daily Moan

Can you not see the hypocrisy of being paid to be at a rally to fund the waterways? It’s not part of his job to campaign. That’s not even taking into consideration that the canals have declined exponentially under his leadership. It was him who introduced the no preventative maintenance policy that has caused a lot of major stoppages. I say again Twat.

Of course it is (part of) his job to campaign to get more funding from the government. I agree that his maintenance strategy has been a failure but that is unrelated to his attempt to get more funding for CRT.

And kris do you KNOW he's getting paid to attend or claiming expenses. I see no problem criticising where it is earned, but on this occasion it appears you've just taken an anti C&RT line without real reason, and then abuse Arthur for disagreeing ... remind you of anyone ? 😁 Rog

Strange comments on gas in the boaters update. They quote how many gas explosions there have been but the figures seem to be houses not boats.

"According to the Health & Safety Executive there have been 179 injuries and 12 fatalities as a result of domestic gas explosions in the five years up to July 2022. With 22 million properties connected to the gas grid..."
Weird. There are virtually no boats connected to the gas grid. Mains gas supply and bottled gas are completely different topics. Why are they going on about domestic gas explosions??
maybe a better use of the column would be to quote how many people have been injured or killed on shared use cycle/pedestrian paths.
