If it is a multiple cylinder unit it has big ends not a big end unless you are doing innuendo.

I guess it's a matter of degrees, if the issue is wholly top end related then maybe it's pragmatic to limit it there, but on the other hand if you have to have the cylinders reworked as well then it makes the case for going the whole distance and replacing the big end shells while you're at it.
