I like scooters for the dry storage space they often have under the seat. And for the fact that they keep you a little drier in the rain, than does a proper motor bike. That's all though. Their little wheels and limited suspension make them horrible for cornering, they deliver a generally shaky, uncomfortable ride, and feel unsafe. Currently renting a Yamaha 125 Lexi Did you kill the Honda? The Yamaha is just a holiday rental. I ride an Enfield Himalayan now. The Honda went to one of those 'we buy any crap vehicle' companies who paid a surprisingly high price for it.

I thought I recalled you said you had an Enfield. Just shows that nostalgia often trumps sense. I should know, I have a C90.

They just don't cut the mustard for touring any distance, or speed when you need it. Then there's the sound of a wasp in a bucket. But you'd be in a car if you were going any distance or speed, obviously. Rog No, I've done many a long journey in a motorbike, the last time was to the west coast of Ireland. All it needs is Northern grit and good waterproofs.

The Vespa has a very comfortable riding position, far more so than the CBF125 it replaced. It will do 60mph which is fast enough for touring. It's a four stroke so not noisier than any other 125cc although I do like the sound of a 2-stroke engine.

The Otto cycle engine is a wonder of design. Unsurprisingly it took a Kraut to dream it up.
TBH they are really only suitable for racing purposes though.

Now that Ianali has finally seen the light, here are a couple of pics for him to spank one out over. The chrome front bumper bar is new, bought and fitted that this week. Doesn't really serve any great purpose, just a bit of bling really. Have MOT on this booked for Saturday morning. If I do decide to work through the Summer, I'll use this for commuting whenever the weather is suitable, which would mean Β£40 a month in petrol as opposed to around Β£110 in diesel in the car.

Unlike the models festooned with Chinese chrome. Plastic may be shite but at least it doesn't rot. The annoying things are an average (at best) front brake and a parasitic draw on the battery. I have a solution for the latter. Oh and a bit of a clunky gearbox which is a bit less clunky if you develop a special style of changing up from first to second.

And Wales is like India in that you generally can't go much faster than 50 so it's in its element π

I bought an Airwheel Z3 a number of yars ago. This was before everyone else had electric scooters. One would rarely see them. It got nicked when one of my Boats was cleared by a scumbag but I had already bodge repaired a split weld on the folding mechanism. I jumped down too many curbs. I should kerb this behaviour really. Did later see it in a local park (my repair was just a wee bit recognisable as it was a piece of hammered aluminium plate) but felt it was rude to engage with the kid using it and imply their dad was a thieving scumbag so I let it be.
