Why does discussion of anything on this forum become about the personalities involved in the discussion, rather than the issues?

It's certainly well balanced. Starts off with a lot of confused nonsense, . . then ends in pretty much the same fashion. In between the tripe at the beginning and end of the article, there are references to C&RT 'repossessing' boats from the owners. This in itself is more complete nonsense. It is NOT possible to 'repossess' something that was never 'possessed' in the first place. Once again we see the NBTA misdirecting its laudable efforts, and misrepresenting its wholly legitimate objections, . . by engaging in a dispute on C&RT's terms, and on demonstrably dubious and nonsensical grounds of C&RT's choosing.

I haven't followed this closely. I recall a similar initiative from CRT, maybe 5 or 6 years ago which they shelved. I guess they will have polled boaters, boaters will have encouraged CRT to go ahead with this, this time around. It's an unfortunate aspect of the British phsyche that many will happilly turn against their own if they feel, rightly or wrongly, that one group is receiving advantages they they themselves aren't. I say unfortunate because it's a selfish attitude and many of those displaying this would go out of their way to be unselfish, most of the time. And so we have it. It's more that people like it when the other guy gets screwed. A basic principle of a race evolved from tribal cave dwellers, I would theorise, and largely borne out on the basis of the vast majority of what passes for humour. Oh and by the by... psyche. I can certainly see the irony (humour) in folk wishing to do each other in whilst wishing to show the world how much they care for the fortunes of those perhaps less fortunate.

Yes yes tony when are you taking crt to court to prove your theory’s about the law?

Yes yes tony when are you taking crt to court to prove your theory’s about the law? He's building up to it. Soon the breathtaking extent of his fiendishly cunning trap so carefully laid for the unwary Canal and River Trust over the past decade will be made clear. When the time is right, as the master himself has often been known to state. In the meantime, console yourself with the hugely effective campaign being waged on the internet. Consider it a prelude. ETA a fucking long one

Yes yes Tony as I’ve told you before. Provide the name of the officer involved and a crime ref number and I’ll gladly hand myself in.

This pretence that there is some type of Police file being compiled is about as plausible as GHL's CWDF account.
